Guest guest
Hi! I'm new here, and have been reading over the archives, but don't feel I've gotten my answer 100% yet. I'm 13 weeks pregnant, have a sinus infection and nasal polyps. One I can see, and it's HUGE - like a big jellybean - filling almost the entire opening on that side of my nose. The doc said that only an oral steroid for 15 days would touch it, and has me on an antibiotic for 14 days. I'm taking that - since my thinking is that the cavitity is so blocked, that's the only way to get rid of the infection unfortunately. I don't feel comfortable with the steroids (1 out of 3 OB's agree with me, and all the pharmacists agree with me). Predinisone is a Category C med, which means it's not tested on pregnant women at all. The doc says there are no other options - but I can't help but think there's something I can try that's more natural and safe for my baby. I know I have to do something - chronic sinus infections for the next 7 months wouldn't be good either. Any ideas?? Guest guest
How about Nutribiotic's nasal spray for your sinus infection? GSE is an amazing natural antibiotic and it wiped out my sinus infection within a day. About $10 at most health food stores. Nasal polyps are usually caused by inflammation. Get down to what caused yours and address that. Take care of you and your baby! Michelle
Guest guest
Candice, sorry I don't have any idea's, but in my experience of having nasal polyps during my pregnancy was that my nose was partially stuffy the whole time both sides. I quit the allergy shots and allergy medicine for the entire pregnancy, I didn't want to take any risks. I suffered alot during my pregnancy. But I made it. During my first pregnancy I had placenta previa and I ended up in the hospital because the doctor wanted to keep an eye on me for a few days. But I was wheezing alot and my asthma doctor came in and wanted to give me prednisone through my IV and said that it wouldn't bother the baby. I said no way. I didn't trust it. I'm glad that I didn't take the prednisone because my son was born healthy and still is healthy. It was a long 9 months. I ended up doing the same thing during my 2nd pregnancy. But I made it through that too. And my daughter is healthy also. Becareful with those drugs. Just my experience.
