The Natural way to beat colds and flus

Sore Throat

instead of numing cough drops

use Bee Propolis lozenges! Bees dont just make honey. They also make

propolis, a buttery substance comprised of tree sap and beeswax

that gives scratchy throats a protective, waxy coat that soothes pain.

or Throat coat Tea! Studies show that, unlike regular tea, Throat Coat,

a brew containing slippery elm bark, marshmallow root and licorice

root, can reduce the pain of swallowing and provide rapid relief.

Congestion

Intead of decongestant tablets

try tabasco gargle! ever notice how salsa makes your nose run?

That's because spicy foods trigger teh glands in your nose to release

fluids, relieving congestion. Make your won spicy gargle by mixing 1-

3 drops of tabasco in one cup water. Gargle 3-5 times a day

Headache

instead of acetaminophen

try peppermint oil. Massaging a few drops of this aromatic oil into your

temples is as effective at reducing a headache as taking 1,000

mg of acetaminophen, and the scent helps relieve sinus congest! Its smell

acts directly on the brain, like a drug.

Fever

never use alcohol for a rubdown to reduce a fever, as its absorbed through

the skin, use lukewarm water instead.

instead of aspirin

try White Willow Bark Capsules! Willow bark has been used for

centuries to fight fevers brought on by colds and flu, and no wonder,

it contains the same active ingredient as aspirin, salicylic acid,

but wont irriate the delicate tissues lining the stomach.

Cough

instead of cough medicine

try Horehound candies! These old fashioned sweets contain oils from

the horehound plant that thin cough-causing mucous and help clear it

our of your lungs. Available in most health food stores

Try Eucalyptus tea! It reduces coughing by increasing your

production of saliva, which makes you swallow more frequently,

suppressing the cough reflex. Simply steep 1-2 tsp of the herb in a

cup of boiling water for 3-5 minutes, strain and sip! dose 3 or 4

cups a day

Heal faster from the flu. Reach for elderberry extract, a recent

norwegian study found that flu patients who took Sambucol (a brand of

edlerberry extract), within 48 hours of feeling sick recovered in an

average of three days, while those given a placebo took about seven

days to feel better. Scientists say compounds in elderberry

strengthen the immune system by stimulating production of cells that

fight off viruses

4 surprising was to reduce your risk of getting sick

1. Get more vitamin C. mega doses of vitamin c (1,000 mg each hour

for six hours, then 1,000 mg. three times daily) may prevent the flu

2. Wear a sweater! feeling cold actually makes you more susceptible

to the common cold. How? by causing nasal passages to dry up, making

it easier tfor viruses to get inside.

3. Take Ginseng. people who took 200 mg of ginseng twice a day were

half as likely to catch a cold as those who did not.

4. Have a glass of red wine. People who drink two or more glasses of red

wine a day have 44% fewer colds then those who dont drink at all.
