The entire cholesterol hypothesis of heart disease is being questioned by quite a few MDs. Great contribution by Michelle on vitamin D and cholesterol. For a thorough article on the cholesterol issue, click this link to a newsletter by Jon Barron. While you are at the website, pick up his free e-book. It is a readable, excellent primer on the principles of natural health building. I like his motto: " There are no magic bullets, only a series of steps to optimum wellness " . Supporting your liver is a key factor in the management of cholesterol. Providing your body with a full complement of B vitamins is another. You see that these are measures that build health in a general way. Anyway, Jon has explained it all, here is the link: http://www.jonbaron.org/heart-health-program/0524-2004.phh Ien in the Kootenays http://wildwholefoods.net
Guest guest
Lucinda, Triglycerides are actually a type of cholesterol but one caused by carbohydrates. Lowering your carbs will help including alcohol consumption but then a drink a day especially red wine is good for the cardiovascular system. Try to limit carbs or eat complex carbs. Newer research seems to suggest a bigger role of refined carbs in heart disease perhaps greater than fat consumption. Richard Fear is a natural reaction to moving closer to the truth. ---Pema Chödrön
