I used to take Tryptophan to help me sleep until the FDA took it away. It was

really good for me.

Where do you live? Where do you get Tryptophan?

Does Anyone Know

Hi, I have bipolar and I also have anxiety real bad..I take L-

Triphtophan and other aminos which do help the BP but they don't help

the anxiety- My husband just took me out on our new Harley Davidson

and I had never been a passenger and I paniced extremly hard like I

was falling, which made him real nervous when we were traveling, lol,

yikes..Does anyone know anything natural to help me besides Bach

Flower's which by the way have not helped me..

2 places I know of for tryptophan. One is turkey has lots in it.

The other is 5HTP that is a precursor to Tryptophan. if the pathway

is inplace in the body then the body will convert the 5HTP into as

much Tryptophan as you need. There may be other products out there

though.

Hello,

I'm a vegetarian so turkey is out of question.

In reference to 5HTP, I already tried it and made me feel really ill.

I was struggling with anxiety attacks and my dr. prescribed (of course) lexapro-

which made me fell dim and sluggish. I read about 5-htp tried it and loved it.

I would suggest it to anyone who is suffering from over-stress, anxiety,

edginess. I did not alter my mood or energy level in anyway, it just really

helped to take the edge off. I slept better and felt as though I was able to

think more rationally.. I did not take it for long period of time ,I would

usually take one capsule every other day. I purchased it at my local vitamin

shop,

On a side note I had a professor for physiological psychology who said

that years ago tryptophan was sold over the counter as a mood stabilizer...then

along came zoloft and the like and big pharma realized they could make a lot

more money off of those mind altering drugs than they could off of turkey

horomones. Her theory is that they created a false study shedding a negative

light on tryptophan and had it pulled from the shelves thus paving the way for

what we have now...well- you know what we have now....

Hi,

From what I've read and understand on the Net, Trytophan is legal

again now, and/or it can be prescribed by your doctor (?).

This made me ill right away. After a while I tried again and it also affected me

in a very negative way.

The real tryptophan helped me a lot instead.
