Guest guest
There is a trigger involved. It can be either mental, physical, or emotional. Triggers are often rooted in belief systems. External actions that go against the core belief will trigger a physical response. These core beliefs start in childhood. Awareness will help you determine whether there is a pattern. While some doctors believe that genetics plays a significant role in our physical, mental, and emotional health, these constraints can be changed. The mind which controls every aspect of our being can be reprogramed to accomidate beliefs that are more condusive to wholeness or vibrant health. Guest guest
Hi JoAnne, Modern psychiatric ilnesses were " invented " so that Big Pharma could sell more remedies. Psychiatry is the favorite child of Big Pharma. If I were you I'd stick to what you Holistic practicioner says. There is is probably a physical cause to your maladies. Good luck. Guest guest
Sorry but I have to disagree with some of this. I think a number of physical maladies have been exaggerated to sell drugs, but anyone who's ever been through depression or a bipolar-like phase knows that it hasn't been " invented. " I have suffered from depression and/or mild bipolar disease for 10 years. I am seeing a therapist and *I* made the decision to take some medication. The therapy in combination with the medication is working and I took my very first vacation at 100% in August. The therapist (a doctor of psychology who is well certified) did not push me toward meds. He was quite happy to see how things went without. In the case of depression, the medicines that are available have been a godsend to people like me. I do not take any of the new, expensive drugs. In fact I am taking a generic that I get at a very good price. And yes, I tried the herbal remedies a few years ago. For whatever reason they did not work for me. Please listen to a therapist and see another one if you don't trust the one you have. Your life could be at stake. I was never that bad, but it's not uncommon . . . . . Guest guest
Lori, I agree with you in this instance. It's good you took older drugs, cause I belive they are safer. I always go for a natural remedy first, but if you tried that, and it failed, you did the right thing. It is also very positive your doc didnt push you towards medicine. While I believe natural treatments should be tried at first, then there is no choice but medicine. Best wishes. --- On Tue, 9/16/08, lgranger2003 <lather wrote: lgranger2003 <lather Re: They Say It's Bipolar But Maybe It's Not! Guest guest
I am in total consonance what Maria said. It is a global business issue where holistic approach is discouraged and make the mankind afflicting from malady in various form without any respite. " > My personal take on psychiatric conditions is that they are real but much overdiagnosed, and there is too much ideology either way. ADD is the area I am familiar with, but the same principle applies. The thing is: bipolar people often have problems with blood sugar management, AND blood sugar problems can mimic bipolar. ADD ditto. The common sense approach would be to take measures to balance blood sugar first. In SOME cases, that will take care of the problem. If still bi-polar, you might want to look into medications, but at least you are now more settled and you might need a lesser amount. In other words, try the natural way first but don't rule out more allopathic medicine if the natural stuff isn't enough. Life is short, nobody gets out alive, and we all just have to make it through the day as best we can. Try to think and/and instead of either/or. Guest guest
I am new, but I wanted to add to this convo I am bipolar 1 with psychosis, and allergic to every med for this out there. I have lately also delevoped symptoms of fibromyalgia so now there is this theory that I never had (and I tend to agree) bipolar, and that I have a genetic issue with my thyroid causing both problems. I have had my thyroid tested, but I have also been told that thyroid issues dont always show up on a blood test right away, you continually need to be retested. I am off all meds now and take a b complex st johns wort, and valarian root. plus a multi vitamin so far I am feeling almost normal for once. , " joanne_cromp " <joanne_cromp wrote: > > My former shrink says I am bipolar...I have knoticed my sugar level > gets low ( hypoclycimia)and that is when I go into mania..My holistic > doc thinks I may not even be bipolar..I also have heard yeast can act > like bipolar...Any thoughts? > ):JoAnne >
