Guest guest
Hello, I would like some opinions about the accuracy of the expiration date of herbal formulas. I have 2 bottles. One expired in 2006 and the other in February of this year. Both are ayurvedic formulas, were already open, but I kept them in the refrigerator and both seem to be ok. What do you think? Can I still take them? Thanks, Rena
Guest guest
Yes you can still take them. They probably aren't as potent as they were in the beginning but they won't hurt you. Guest guest
Generally, they should be fine. Check the color of the pills (if they are not in capsule form), look for discoloration, that will indicate spoilage. Also, if there are fissures as well. If you know the herbs that are in the respective formulas, those that have an oil base tend to degrade the fastest, so i would especially mindful if these are ingredients. Guest guest
If they look and smell ok it is probably because they are. Remember that expiration dates were added to pacify those afraid of law suits. Dr. Maria Eugenia Moratto I have all the answers. Are you going to ask your questions or not?
