Hopefully there will not be too many typos. I am typing w/one hand. I

cut my hand on broken glass Thurs. July 24. Had to go to emergency for

stitches. It's been 4 days today since the accident and it does not seem

to be healing very fast.

At urgent care they cleaned, stitched, dressed it with a trible

anti-biotic ointment, then wrapped it w/gause. The next morning I could

not move my fingers without pain. Had to go back to urgent care because

the person who wrapped it did not do it properly & the stitches and

dried blood stuck to the gause. The Dr. there had them take off the

dressing that stuck and clean it, and re-wrap it. BUT, this doc now made

a splint for the bottom of my hand and then put that on top of the

dressing, pad, gause wrap, then wrapped that with an ace bandage so it

would immobilize my hand so the stitches would not rip out.

Well by doing this the wound was kept constantly moist and the skin was

turning white and it was getting puffy between the stitches, which was

causing the skin to pull apart & not to stay together. So it's as if the

skin is not growing back together, but staying open. There is no

bleeding, no oozing, just not closing up " except where the stitches

are " . AND IT'S PAINFUL every time I move my ring finger and little

finger or bump it, or squeeze it accidentily while I am cleaning and

re-wrapping it. Because it feels like it's pulling the stitches and

irritating the wound.

I called urgent care today July 27 and the doc " today " said to let air

get to it, because it sounds like there is to much moisture. She said

while at home leave the dressing, wrap and splint off after cleaning it,

but to put it back on if I leave the house. So I am doing that.

My question is will it still grow back together after being apart for 4

days (or more now) due to the treatment they did originally AND is there

anything I can do to help it heal faster and mend together after all

this time. They want to take the stitches out this coming Thurs. July

31 which is only 4 more days. Any suggestions at all that I can do in

that short time to heal this wound??

I was afraid to use the essential oils due to the nylon stitches. I

would have done that, had I not gone to the urgent care & they had not

put stitches in.

I'm really desperate for any suggestions that I can do with something

natural that I hopefully already have at home.

Feel free to email me off group if you want or through the group..I'm

just hoping for a solution.

I've never had stitches before but it just doesn't look like it is

healing right.

Thank you

Health and blessings

Gail

Gail -

Mix warm water with betadine until it looks like weak tea and soak your hand in

it twice a day, leaving bandage off the rest of the time for air to get to the

wound. The betadine is very healing.

I haven't used this method on a wound with stitches but I often use honey on a

skin wound. It helps to heal very quickly. I would clean it then put a thin

layer of honey on it and a loose bandage (so the honey doesn't stick to things).

Maybe it will help, maybe not, just a suggestion.
