The Essential (volatile) Oils found in all aromatic plants are there in most cases to either attract friendlies or repel the unfriendlier critters .. and as I wrote to this group on 17 June ... http://health./message/33053 ... Catnip Essential Oil (Nepeta cataria) has proven to be 10 X more effective than Deet against mosquitos and also in other studies .. against cockroaches and termites. > Steve Clarke <stevat2002 (AT) (DOT) ,com> asked: > With the topic of bug repellants, please recommend a natural dog tick repellent. Steve .. I am even now experimenting with an 8% dilution of Catnip EO and a few drops Oregano EO .. in a Fractionated Coconut Oil base .. on my feral dawg. The little rascal spends half his time in the woods chasing whatever and nothing we used previously would repel the ticks. I can say that now I am seeing far fewer ticks than before but there are still a few around his face and ears and I am reluctant to put the concoction in these areas. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch .. http://www.AV-AT.com
