One-day fasts

I've been pondering doing a one-day fast each week. It makes a lot of

sense to me that this would help allow a body to detox, take a break

from digesting, etc.

Any opinions on one-day fasts? For just one day, is drinking just

water fine? My daughter said she was told that you should drink only

warm water. I'm not sure why that would make sense, but if anyone

knows why, please let me know.

Also, would a one-day fast of dinner time one day to dinner the next

be the same as waking up and not eating until the following day?

(Which actually would be more like a 32-hour fast vs. a 24-hour fast.)

Thanks,

Cindy

Salam, dear lady

& nbsp;

We - Muslims - do fasting as a regular practice, but with a whole year scope in

mind :

& nbsp;

1. Ramadan month fast - obligatory - from sunrise to sunset, no drinks or food,

of course even & nbsp;smoking, and volunteerily we fast 6 days in the month

following Ramadan, to come back gradually to normal 3-meals system, again. Also

we better fast some days in the month preceding Ramadan, for the same reason.

2- The three full moon & nbsp;nights - we fast daytime of course - which found

later to & nbsp;decrease aggression related to those nights & nbsp;.

3- Two days per week, Monday and Tuesday & nbsp;

It adds up to nearly half of the whole year, considering that we have two light

meals during fast time, one at sunset and the other before sunrise, dawn time.

Some Jewish lady said before that they have similar two-meals system during

fasting.

Something very important, we do pray after every meal, in general, and prayers

include sportive movements for about 15 minutes, so you can consider it as to

help circulation & nbsp;and prevent bulks of food after long fasting hours, in

addtion to their spiritual empowering as it meant by that 5-prayers daily system

& nbsp;

Bless you always

One day fasts are good for the body and it shouldn't hurt you

provided you don't have any health issues that would prevent such

( ie diabetes etc) Check with your doctor to be sure. Some people

do 2 and 3 days fasts taking in only liquids. One should

allegedly drink warm or room temperature water as it is said cold

water " shocks " the body.

remember that i have no medical education- but IMO i would have to disagree with

you. i'd drink cold beverages because your body burns more calories to warm you

back up. that and since summer is here, one can't afford heat or sun exhaustion-

especially when fasting. when i fast, i only drink beverages that have nutrients

and antioxidents in them such as tea, coffee (yes coffee! the caffeine gives you

energy and it has 1-2g of fiber per serving), cranergy, tropicana pure raspberry

acai juice, and bolt house farms juices/drinks. i need to eat a full meal with

my medications so i choose foods that have a balance of low calories and fat

while being high in nutrients and fiber. my meal always includes activia yogurt

and i also have one before bed with the rest of my vitamins.

much love in Christ,

According the Essence Jesus; Gospel of Peace (dead sea scrolls;Israel

1. Fast one day a week for seven weeks one time a year; this is what

the Essence manuscripts say Jesus taught

" one fast day a week for seven weeks; do this once a year or just

once in a lifetime; I did this; pretty hard; esp. with just water; I

would not make a steady habit of fasting one day a week though...

the other pages of the Essene gospel talk about Spring Cleansing;

doing fruits and berries in season; and dried fruit; raisins; winter

and yes; dinner to dinner is fine; this is how I and a group did this.

Anna ps if water is not enough;take some veggie broth or fruit juice.

(no caffeine) rest often drink water hourly; get plenty of sleep; A.

pps look up idess on the internet on how to " break your fast safely. -

I understand during a Moslem fast; no food after sunrise; if I were

to do a fast i would do no food after sunset; just my opinion;

fasting is good but not on a regualar basis because the system does

not know the difference between fasting and lack of ablilty to

procure food; so malnutrion can be a side effect of fasting; as I say

one day fasts periodically do clear the mind; spirit and cleasning.

I could see doing a long fast once in a lifetime; not every year tho'

too streesful on the mind; but this is a reverent fast for " the

creator and fasting or juice fasting even for one meal helps to see

the beauty of mother nature and the serenity of sunsets;trees;birds;a.

Salam, dear ladies

& nbsp;

I thank you a lot for that honest and resepecful way you go around this

important subject about transculture.

If you remember Ghandi, and how his so long fast gave him strength & nbsp; & nbsp;to

lead a whole nation towards freedom..?

It can be right what you say about body's memory about food, when it's

one-dimentional way of thinking, only focusing about health. We can't ignore the

spiritual scope of it, to help body endure healthy hunger, while the cleanse is

in progress.

When you think only about yourself, your body, and your own well being, stress

will be tremendous on you to go on as planned, but when you are sure & nbsp;

you'll be richly rewarded by the Almight Creator that supports you during

fasting, and when you share millions worldwide the same time for fast/break

fast, and when you do your best to please the needy while you are hungry like

them, not only throwing money to a bank or through the window of your A/C car,

food will retire to it's basic humble role, just a way to stay alive, not a mere

target of that life.

& nbsp;

Did you ever see a car celebrating & nbsp; it's fuel the way we celebrate

eating..??

The most important is the car itself - our life - and a little focus must be on

it's fuel.

& nbsp;

Bless you always

& nbsp;

Dear Ladies and Gentelmen:

concerning fasting for one day.

I see that fasting for one day every week is very good , but it is

not enough.The best I tried is fasting 3 days day after day ,it

makes a real detoxfication for liver,kidnys,and lungs and removes

accumulated fats from liver in easy and natural way.

Third day you will not feel hunger,but you will feel

satisfaction,clear mind, and high spirit like angles , becaus angles

do not eat.

For me as a muslem ,I feel the ful satisfaction,because I put in

mind during fasting that it is a worship ,God forgive me during

fasting, bless me and as Mr.M.Masry said,the currage to share

hunger,makes you proud of yourself.

Hoping the best of life for every body from my heart.

it's one-dimentional way of thinking, only focusing about health. We

can't ignore the spiritual scope of it, to help body endure healthy

hunger, while the cleanse is in progress.

when you are sure & nbsp; you'll be richly rewarded by the Almight

Creator that supports you during fasting, and when you share

millions worldwide the same time for fast/break fast, and when you

do your best to please the needy while you are hungry like them, not

only throwing money to a bank or through the window of your A/C car,

food will retire to it's basic humble role, just a way to stay

alive, not a mere target of that life.
