Guest guest
My husband has been diagnosed with bulging discs in his lower lumbar area. They have been causing him a lot of pain for over 12 years. This last time was the worst with a trip to urgent care and the standard drugs, painkillers and the like. I would like to hear some input from the group on how to heal his back naturally. I have a basic idea but I am open to other ideas. He has been through all the physical therapy with decompression and chiropractics for over a decade. He still has the same problem. I have tried home remedies of Epsom salt baths and castor oil packs and Flax oil rubs. So any new ideas please let me know your thoughts. Thanks ahead of time. Guest guest
Anything that stretches the vertebrae will help temporarily. I have had both upper and lower back injuries and releasing the pressure on the discs will prevent the pressure on the nerves due to the bulging discs. They have come out with some rather expensive at home machines that do this. There are many testimonials to their effectives but of course they only print the good testimonials. I did see one where you lay on your back and put your feet in some type of stirrup and then you pull at your sides with you hands and you control the amount of stretching. You might want to explore yoga exercises that concentrate on stretching the spine. Their are many beneficial gentle exercises that work. Done on a daily basis they may provide some comfort and also strengthen the muscles along the spine and help give more support. Guest guest
In 1997 I was in an auto accident which left me with 3 bulging discs. The pain was excruciating! I tried water therapy, chiropractic, cortisone injections, the works. Nothing worked more than 3 months. Finally I went to a pain management doctor. He did an out-patient surgery where they insert a wire into the bulged disc, heat the wire which causes the disc to harden, then take the wire out. You have to lay on your back for six weeks while the disc softens and regenerates. After six weeks, the pain was gone, I could walk without a limp, and life returned to normal. Take your husband to a pain management doctor and ask about the procedure. Good Luck! , " Daphne " <dmcgovern wrote: > > My husband has been diagnosed with bulging discs in his lower lumbar > area. Guest guest
Thanks Richard, He will be looking into Yoga as well. We also have an incline machine. He refers to it as the bat machine, where he hangs upside down. It seems to help when he uses it. D -- In , " RNR " <rnr4biz wrote: > > Anything that stretches the vertebrae will help temporarily. Guest guest
---Also black cohosh will ease the pain and relax the muscles in the lower back. Mine totally healed with black cohosh alone I had 2 slipped discs which affected the sciatic nerve that runs from lower back to the bottom of the foot. Intense pain. I also rubbed the area with warm castor oil each night and kept the area warm with flannel pinned to fit.
