Guest guest
too much vitamin C will cause diarrhea - if that happens, cut back to bowel tolerance. - modeaussie Wednesday, May 07, 2008 3:32 PM Vitamin C overdose? Guest guest
You will tell when you have an OD over Vitamin C when you get diarrhea. When you get that.. back your dose off one pill or spoon less.

Guest guest
<<<Anyone know if there are any ill effects of consuming more than 1,000 mg of Vitamin C a day? Vinh>>> 1000 Mgs of Vitamin C is a SMALL dose.....I take 3000 mg a day and that is not considered that much. Don't go by what the FDA or other regulatory agencies say is the RDA for ANY vitamin....they are so far below what is optimal for human health that is is laughable. If you are not use to higher does of Vit.C be aware that loose bowel movements may result. Build up your dose slowly. Take care, D
Guest guest
The only adverse symptom I know of is that you get loose stools. If you do, decrease your intake. I know people who have taken 30g/day. And many who take 12-15g/day I only take 2g for allergies, as Vit.C is a natural anti-histaminic but sometimes I take 4g/day. When people come over for a visit and are allergic to my cats, I immediately give them 2g and they stay in my home allergy free for 4hr or so. Guest guest
---Vitamin C is not stored. Excess will be excreted in the urine. Dosage is " up to bowel tolerance. " That means that if you take enough to cause diarrhea ---- then cut back on the dosage. Guest guest
Let's talk common sense here: If you overdose on anything, you'll feel it. This was taken from a website called essortment.com - All the positive outcomes by taking Vitamin <http://www.essortment.com/lifestyle/healthnutrition_skto.htm#> C are well-documented; however, physiological problems do occur with over-ingestion of Vitamin C. While the harmful effects of this " miracle worker " have not been conclusively determined experimentally, certain side effects do manifest themselves when too much is ingested. To get the most out of Vitamin C, you should take enough of this micronutrient so that it saturates your tissues. This is when the body is optimally protected against oxidative damage. When your body <http://www.essortment.com/lifestyle/healthnutrition_skto.htm#> receives much more than the recommended daily allowances of Vitamin C, it body can no longer absorb Vitamin C and treats the excess micronutrient as waste. This results in gastrointestinal stress. Diarrhea can occur. Stomach cramping, flatulence <http://www.essortment.com/lifestyle/healthnutrition_skto.htm#> , and nausea are also common when unabsorbed Vitamin C passes through the intestines. Finally, some studies have shown that increased levels of Vitamin C can actually put you at risk for the development of kidney stones <http://www.essortment.com/lifestyle/healthnutrition_skto.htm#> . I hope this was helpful info for you Ann http://www.annshrader.myarbonne.com <http://www.annshrader.myarbonne.com> , barbara kreutzer <doglover894 wrote: > > You can get cramps and personally I think it can bring your period on sooner, if you are a younger woman. > > January Agustin january_agustin wrote: i guess vit.c overdose does not occur.vit. c is a water soluble vitamins which is if taken in excess will automatically be secreted via urine. > > > modeaussie koolaussies > > Wednesday, May 7, 2008 12:32:38 PM > Vitamin C overdose? > > Anyone know if there are any ill effects of consuming more than 1,000 > mg of Vitamin C a day? > > Vinh > > __ > > http://ph.mail. > >
Guest guest
Very high doses of C (EsterC) is actually given to bowel tolerance for dogs with hip dysplasia and they are for the most part able to hop and jump and run around like puppies again. It is good for the human animal and non human animals alike with arthritic conditions. It helps lubricate the joints again. so bone isn't grinding on bone. C also helps rebuild collagen. Give to bowel tolerance means you keep giving higher and higher doses until diarrhea occurs, then pull back little by little the dosage until stools are normal. That is high dose to bowel tolerance. It will be different for everyone. You can google ester c hip dysplasia and there will be tons of sites with recommendations for the weight of the dog and starting doses. Google ester c arthritis for sites regarding recommendations for human weight and dosage start points. People on chemo taking high doses of c don't feel so much like a bag of crap as my dad put it. Very high doses of c are used for chelation therapy. (flushing heavy metal toxins from the body). On Behalf Of Dr. Maria Moratto Sunday, May 11, 2008 12:01 PM Re: Vitamin C overdose? Guest guest
WAY too much Vir C could result in kidney stones. But in general, Vit C is very safe to take in large dosages. It is water soluable and will simply be excreted from the body. The health advantages of Vit C by far outweigh any possible toxic side effects in my opinion. Now, fat soluable vitamins like vitamins A, D, and E are potentially more dangerous as they end up being stored in body fat. , " cecile " <RSchl44964 wrote: > > ---Vitamin C is not stored.
