Guest guest
Aspirin or a salicylate containing products should not be given for a viral illness as there is a link with Reyes Syndrome, a deadly disease. All body organs are effected, especially the liver and the brain. The cause and cure are unknown. Denise > Please for anyone that is ill or has a child with illness avoid > Tylenol. Guest guest
I totally agree with you. Many people take Tylenol as if they were candies. The last time I took it was about 20 years ago when I learned there was a better way. Rena - prwc_4u Wednesday, April 30, 2008 1:01 PM Think twice befor giving Tylenol Please for anyone that is ill or has a child with illness avoid Tylenol. I know that is not what we have all been taught but one dose of Tylenol stops Glutathione production in the body for approx. 22 days. Glutathione(GSH) is very important for everyone when dealing with any illness. D References below Tylenol depletes GSH Slattery JT et al. Dose-dependent pharmacokinetics of acetaminophen: evidence of glutathione depletion in humans. Clin Pharmacol Ther 1987 41(4):413-8 PMID 3829578 Lauterburg BH, Mitchell JR. Therapeutic doses of acetaminophen stimulate the turnover of cysteine and glutathione in man. J Hepatol. 1987 Apr;4(2):206-11. PMID 3584929 " The data indicate that therapeutic doses of acetaminophen markedly stimulate the rate of turnover of the pool of cysteine available for the synthesis of GSH, most likely due to an increased rate of synthesis of GSH which is required to detoxify the toxic metabolite of acetaminophen. Patients who are not able to respond to a similar demand on their stores of GSH by increasing the synthesis of GSH may be at higher risk of developing hepatic injury from drugs that require GSH for their detoxification. " Spielberg SP. Acetaminophen toxicity in lymphocytes heterozygous for glutathione synthetase deficiency. Can J Physiol Pharmacol 1985 63(5):468-71 PMID 4041989 Heterozygous cells failed to use N-acetylcysteine as efficiently to resynthesize glutathione, and the cells were not protected from acetaminophen toxicity. Heterozygotes may be at increased risk of toxicity from drugs whose metabolites are detoxified by glutathione conjugation. " Depletion of hepatic glutathione in rats impairs phagocytosis in vivo. Guest guest
Hi, where did you get this info on gutathione. Guest guest
hi, as a child i remember being hounded by my mom that Tylenol is pure " evil " for a child. However now that im an adult - is tylenol " ok " for me ? or is it best be avoided at any age. Also, is there a difference between Tylenol and Avil, Aleve etc ? is one more healthy than another ? Just curious - thanks, Deb barbara kreutzer <doglover894 Friday, May 2, 2008 7:06:20 PM Re: Think twice befor giving Tylenol Hi, where did you get this info on gutathione. Guest guest
If your from European decent, especially English, Irish, Italian, German etc the is a chance that you have a genetic mutation MTHFR that is very common but makes it difficult for many of us to properly excrete drugs like Tylenol. Motrin would be 1st choice, Aleve, More importantly find out why you need, if your using for inflammation a much better choice is WOBENZYME use by Europeans and athletes like we do tylenol or motrin, for headaches Butterbur the herb is a better choice. If your doing aspirin for cardio health use the active ingredient White willow back that does not have the extra aluminum that we dont need in our bodies Hope that helps DM , Deborah Litvin <gubertush wrote: > > hi, > as a child i remember being hounded by my mom that Tylenol is pure " evil " for a child.
