An easy way to do this is to start using on a daily basis a psyllium fiber product like Metamucil. Walmart sells a cheaper version which is just as effective. Also, increase your daily water intake to at least 2 quarts per day. A couple of times a week to get things moving along, you can take a Cascara Sagrada capsule. I buy mine at the Vitamin Cottage store, but it can be bought wherever herbs are sold. Remember, if not much is eaten, not much will come out. But your goal should definitely be a least one good large bowel movement per day, good luck! Flaxseed oil may also help the lubrication and flow. Guest guest
Hi Cathy, I have been constipated practically all my life, had numerous hemorrhoid operations, candida, bloated abdomen, etc. I also had colonics and took laxatives (cascara sagrada, triphala, etc)... Some time ago, somebody told me about magnesium citrate and calcium magnesium, which I have been taking regularly (with my evening meal) for a few months now. (2 magnesium citrate and 2 calcium magnesium) I also changed my diet (mainly vegetables, whole grains, seaweeds, some fish, coconut oil, lots of garlic) and I don't eat any processed foods, dairy, sweets, red meat) This helped me... Good luck! --- Cathy <cathyscott77 wrote: > i need some help. ever since i got preg. last july > i have not been > regular, before the preg. i was going 2 a day( ). > since the > miscarriage, i have slowly gone down from once a day > to well now uhm > have not gone on my own in well i think 3 dys. i do > enimas, every > other day due to the lack of consistancy of my > bouls. > i do have meds i could take but candidia is another > concern of mine. i > would prefer a much more holistic way of fixing this > problem. i have > used a colon cleanse but due to my dismay once i > stop so does my bouls. > i have gone for colonics too. i am doing all i can > to keep my self uhm > empty however i know i am bloted, gained weight and > now is effecting my > engery level - please will some one help me get > regular again. > > ______________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
go to the dr. and have your magnesium levels checked. my multi vitamin only has 13% RDV (reccomended daily value). also, here's a test you can do yourself to know if you are taking enough magnesium- increase the number of magnesium supplements you take until you have very loose stool- then subtract one. when you figure out how much magnesium you need, have your potassium levels checked by a dr. as too low and too high potassium can both be fatal. much love in Christ, sara maineisforme <maineisforme wrote: I sounded a lot like you especially after getting pregnant. Guest guest
Flax seed and flax seed oil are excellent. Both should be refrigerated and you cannot cook with flax seed oil. Grind the flax seed to a fine consistency. I put it in home made bread, chocolate cake, home made short bread, in soy yogurt, and just about any place I think I can add it without it changing the taste of the food. It is wonderful in baked goods and people cannot believe their is flax seed in the chocolate vegan cake I make. Flax seed has a host of other benefits as well and is rich in Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids. Guest guest
Cathy, Depending on the colon cleanse you've done in the past, some products make the bowels lazy. Which may be why as soon as you are finished with the cleanse, its back to same ole same ole. They need to move, they gotta flex their muscles too J have you tried something as simple as canned pumpkin? If you like pumpkin, get some, try to get just plain ole canned pumpkin without the pumpkin pie goodies in it and - this sounds gross, eat it out of the can. or use it to make a shake, mixed with some psyllium husk. Psyllium is one of those cool things in nature that works both ways. If you are bound up, it will soften and help move things along. If you are too loose it will help firm things up. And it 'scrubs' the bowel cleaner on the way out. if plain canned pumpking isnt tasty, try the pumpkin pie mix in the can. I use plain ole pumpkin canned for my two kitties. When they start having hard movements, I mix up a plop of canned pumpkin in their food and voila, back to normal in a jiffy. And they actually love it. Sometimes if I plop the pumpkin in before I get their food in the bowls, they start wolfing that down. Cant hurt to try. Guest guest
Hi Cathy I would first see a doc to make sure that everything is ok> Any time there a dramatic change in your bowel habits, you should: check your diet (enough good fats & fiber, not too many simple carbs, enough water, etc.) and definitely check with a gastroenterologist especially if it persists for a long time. If everything is ok, you try magnesium and vitamin c. It works wonders. There is a a powdered magnesium that I like, called " natural calm " ....Its great stuff...But be sure to really look at your diet, check hormone levels, thyroid and possibly colonoscopy... Good luck , " Cathy " <cathyscott77 wrote: > > i need some help. ever since i got preg. last july i have not been > regular, before the preg. i was going 2 a day( ). since the > miscarriage, i have slowly gone down from once a day to well now uhm > have not gone on my own in well i think 3 dys. i do enimas, every > other day due to the lack of consistancy of my bouls. > i do have meds i could take but candidia is another concern of mine. i > would prefer a much more holistic way of fixing this problem. i have > used a colon cleanse but due to my dismay once i stop so does my bouls. > i have gone for colonics too. i am doing all i can to keep my self uhm > empty however i know i am bloted, gained weight and now is effecting my > engery level - please will some one help me get regular again. >
