Guest guest
I am interested in taking valerian for generalized anxiety disorder. Does anyone take this and/or know much about this herb including possible side effects? I am going to discuss this with my doctor but I would like input from someone who has anxiety and has used this herb. Thanks, Amy
Guest guest
I take Valerian for sleep. It really makes a HUGE difference in my sleep - so I would be cautious taking it during hours you want to be awake. Also, it makes me itch - so I take it with benedryl. I did a search on it - and it is suggested to only take 500mg at a time - whereas the bottle said to take almost a 1000 mg three times a day. I have had a lot of luck with St. John's Wort for mood. Good luck! , " amymarietrail " <amymarietrail wrote: > > I am interested in taking valerian for generalized > anxiety disorder. Guest guest
I would recommend using Passion Flower Herb capsules, or Skullcap Herb capsules instead of Valerian Root. In my experience they just seem to work better.
Guest guest
I used to get a lot of anxiety and used a homeopathic remedy that contained valerian. I found it to be very effective but a band-aid solution since it doesn't get to the cause. I'd recommend learning EFT and for some people a good detox is helpful since metals affect the brain and metal toxicity can have symptoms of anxiety. Anytime you're anxious you will become acidic which in turn will make you feel more anxious. It's best to get to the root of the problem while looking after the physical aspects until you're all the way there. Liver toxicity causes anxiety as well and the Chinese call the liver the Father of all Organs and the seat of our emotions. Guest guest
Valerian as a single herb may not remain effective for long term use. It is better to take herbal combination tablets. . One product that is available in India is `Triguna Yogini`. It contains herbs: withania somnifera aquilaria agallocha bacopa monnieri hydrocotyle asiatica convolvulus pluricaulis acorus calamus bambusa bambos valreriana wallichii hyoscymus niger rauwolfia serpentina paeonia emodi and a couple of more herbs in small percentage. It is safe for day time use. Guest guest
I totally agree with this suggestion. Valerian makes me aggitated and keeps me awake at night. When I managed a health food store, we had plenty of customer returns for the same reason. So important to remember that what works for one, doesn't necessarily for another. Muscle test your products before wasting your money! Guest guest
Yes: I have been using the Valerian Root for about 5 years; I use this as a sleep aid; no side effects; does make you sleepy; if you want soemthing to sleep better try Valerain Root; if you take this during the day you may get too sleepy; though some say not. Valerain Root is a native new england herb such as is Echinnacea. If you want to reduce stress; I would suggest the Vitamn B-Complex. You might also want to drink Herbal Teas esp. Bigelow Plantation Mint. , irene kitty <irenektty wrote: > > swimming helps me a lot jaccussy is good go to the beach and try to have a positive attitude what you eat is very important. stop sodas replace by perrier and natural lemon juice, easy with read meat eat more fish and chicken, curb sweets all kinds eat fresh fruit, you will feel the difference. the spirit does not get panic or anxiety , the body is not funtioning right and is affecting your mind. when is the last time you had a glucose test........low blood sugar hypoglycimia, has a lot of symptoms, anxiety panic attacks depression imsonia mood swings are just a few of them chex it out. > pjb12345uk <pho wrote: ---amy i know you ahve not asked for other suggestions > but there are a few things which can help you loads > spiritual healing/reiki > massage > karma therapy > phill In , " amymarietrail " > <amymarietrail@> wrote: > > > > I am interested in taking valerian for generalized > > anxiety disorder. Guest guest
hi amy, anxiety is sometimes a combination of things; diet, stress, what's going on in one's life and most of all how we may be conditioned to respond to things...i just got done listening to a program founded by Lucinda Basset. I had heard of this and although i don't have panic attacks,i wanted to see what it was about. she talks about depression and axiety as well and many helpful ways to deal with these minds....very, very helpful...the staff is very supportive and there is also a website to check in and chat with others....the # is 1 800 944 9460... the very best to you and all who suffer with this c irene kitty <irenektty wrote: swimming helps me a lot jaccussy is good go to the beach and try to have a positive attitude what you eat is very important. stop sodas replace by perrier and natural lemon juice, easy with read meat eat more fish and chicken, curb sweets all kinds eat fresh fruit, you will feel the difference. the spirit does not get panic or anxiety , the body is not funtioning right and is affecting your mind. when is the last time you had a glucose test........low blood sugar hypoglycimia, has a lot of symptoms, anxiety panic attacks depression imsonia mood swings are just a few of them chex it out. pjb12345uk <pho wrote: ---amy i know you ahve not asked for other suggestions but there are a few things which can help you loads spiritual healing/reiki massage karma therapy phill In , " amymarietrail " <amymarietrail wrote: > > I am interested in taking valerian for generalized > anxiety disorder.
