Guest guest
I am new to the group but wanted to definately respond to the post regarding natural beauty products. I am a member of the safe cosmetics campaign and want to inform you all that everything that says natural is not always natural. Arbonne is not all natural and actually includes parabens as preservatives in its product line http://www.arbonne.com/pdf/PK/Parabens.pdf . They claim that they only use a small amount however, if your body is exposed to this small amount everyday in body lotions, lipsticks, and hair products it will meet or exceed the amount that other companies use for thier line. They must include these preservatives because if a product contains water and it is mass produced it has to be well preserved for shipping and stocking. Its cheaper for large manufacturers to include parabens than for them to only make products on demand. There are six primary types of parabens—methyl, ethyl, butyl, propyl, benzyl and isobutyl—and often two or more are combined to help maintain product freshness and combat bacterial growth. Parabens are not naturally occuring therefore products that contain them are not all natural. The problem is that this type of advertising is a bit deceptive. Arbonne just as many others should simply say that they include natural ingredients instead of saying that they are natural. I didnt mean to pick on this particular type of product line because this is the case for many who use the word " natural " loosely. I am a representative of a company that sells all natural products designed for women of color but can actually be used by anyone who can use them. I think they are in the process of developing a more inclusive line that would address the needs of fairer skin. The product line does not however, contain any chemicals at all. The colorants are derivatives of oxides and micas and the skin products are created with natural butters (cocoa, shea, mango) and they only use essential oils with preservative powers. For this reason, they advise you to throw away the remaining product after you have used it for 2-3 months. You also have to use good hygenic practices so that it does not become contaminated. As I mentioned before, it says women of color but anyone can use it. I didnt mean to post an advertisement regarding this product line (I love this group and respect it tremendously) but felt compelled to remind everyone that " natural " does not always mean " natural " . Burts Bees is also good but many of the others that claim to be are not really natural. Visit Bareminerals.com for natural products that are organic and really all natural. AOL shows their website in a weird way so make sure that you use Explorer if you visit them. , " mikkay2006 " <ldelvaux wrote: > > Hi, > > Arbonne is a good natural makeup line that i use.
