Guest guest
I had a heart attack at the end of 2004. Since then my cardiologist prescribed the drug Lipitor. Ever since I started taking this drug I have been experiencing muscle pain,I can no longer bend my left wrist,I am losing my balance(i.e I tend to topple over ever so slightly),After doing light gardening , I mysteriously injured my back and now my left leg is in constant pain when I sit for any length of time.My muscles are sore when I wake in the morning, even worse when I attempt exercise of any kind, and as I say to my lovely wife , that I wake weary and sore.I am permanently tired. Prior to my heart attack my cholestrol readings fluctuated between normal and slightly high.I am not diabetic , but have had high blood pressure for a number of years. The blood pressure medicine I currently take is Accupril and Zanidip and a blood thinner called Iscover. What alternative medicines are out there for Lipitor or generally for high blood pressure? I am a 56 year old Australian male.

Are you asking us what to replace the side effect causing Lipitor, with something natural to do the same job? Something that could be used with the Accupril, Zanidip, and Iscover? Guest guest
Frank Thank you for your email. Apologies, my question is twofold, firstly is there somebody in the group that has had a similiar side effects when taking Lipitor or when combing Lipitor with other blood pressure medication and, secondly, whether there is a natural " healthier " alternative that I could consider instead of Lipitor? Guest guest
Hi Rodney My doctor convinced me to start taking Lisinopril for high blood pressure. I've been on it for about 5-6 days and I am having the same physical symptoms that you described; I'm really feeling sick all over. I should have known better. I had approximatelyh the same symptoms with Lovestatin. Not everyone has these kinds of side effects, but I've NOW learned that I just can't do their medications. I need to find a better solution than grapefruit juice and garlic as that didn't seem very effective to lower blood pressure. Hopefully someone in the group has had great success with something that they can suggest to us. Best of luck to you. Guest guest
Hi Linda I too have tried all assortments of juice combinations(apple & ginger,Carrot & garlic,Grapefruit, orange and ginger yoghurt smoothie) in the quest to lower my Blood Pressure.Unfortunately none of them seem to work. I no longer eat meat or meat based products, no salt or added salt to any food I eat and no white bread. My breakfast comprises of Yoghurt,in season fruit, high fibre cereal and 3 tablespoons of Flaxseed oil everyday.Lunch and Dinner consists mainly of Fish,Tofu and lean chicken/turkey(once a week),leafy salads,Broccoli, beans, nuts, brown rice, rice noodles and organic pasta. About a year or so I bought a Resperate breathing monitor , to regulate my breathing , slow my metabolism and lower my Blood Pressure. My Blood Pressure readings especially the Systolic number has improved quite a bit,the Diastolic is still high but appears to have stabilised. I have also noticed an improvement in the BP readings after exercise( walking the dog) similiar to that which I get after the breathing exercises. The Resperate is fairly pricey and I cannot at this point in time say with any certainty or conviction that it actually lowers Blood Pressure, but I use it as a tool in my quest to rid myself of pharmacy medication. Although there are excellent herbs for cholesterol management, I believe that one has to drastically alter the diet in order to achieve any lasting reductions in LDL. If there aren't any blockages that you're aware of there may not be any reason to be concerned. As I'm not aware of your exact readings I cannot be sure. I will say that the docs are too quick to recommend drugs. It is better to research your other options first! The statin drugs may also lead to a heart attack if taken over an extended period of time.If you doubt my word, read the listed side effects. It's all right there in fine print! This is only one of the negative effects of statins. They will destroy your liver and cause slow muscular decay; that I have heard from so many people. They deplete your co-enzyme q-10 as well and your heart cannot function well without This basic nutrient. The Japanese have considerably less heart disease than the US. They prescribe co-q10 for their heart and cardiovascular problems which benefits your entire vascular system. As for diet, you need to incllude more fiber in your meals. Oatmeal, oat bran, high antioxidant fruits and vegetables are all of benefit, providing they are locally grown or organic. Dried cooked beans are a good soource of fiber as well. You need to use diet to your advantage,. It is a wonderful tool for regaining your health. I recovered from my CVD using an organic diet, good complex carbs (a great source of fiber, btw) and fish (alaskan salmon and sardines for efa's) along with tocotrienols and fish oils combined in one supplement, however very few companies provide this. It is important that you get one without any contaminants ....spectrum oils offers an excellent brand. spectrumnaturals.com Hawthorn berry, cayenne, and magnesium are all essential for regulating HBP and cholesterol. Make sure that you're getting more magnesium than calcium in both your supplements and diet. Calcium in abundance (especially in Tums, Caltrate and other OTC drugs)usually leads to more constricting arteries whereas magnesium relaxes the muscular walls and cuts down on the pressure from these muscle spasms in our arteries which cause strokes and heart attack and arrythmias. You may find this amusing, however celery, eaten in its unadulterated raw form is a good source of potassium and therefore is a good food for the blood pressure and arteries. It is an alkaline food as well. There are some basic components in celery which inhibit strokes and heart attacks from occurring. The standard american diet causes heart disease. That may sound foreign to you, but it is true. If the medical profession put more emphasis on dietary measures heart disease would not be so prevalent. However, their focus has always been on drugs so I don't forsee this happening anytime in the near future! God Bless, JoAnn
Guest guest
Hi, Lipitor. It's action should not produce the side effects Frank mentions (see links from www.medonline.org.uk). Instead of suggesting a replacement, I think Frank should consult his doctor in case the symptoms are the beginning of something else, and not a Lipitor reaction. Better safe then sorry ? Frank (another one) <riansteff wrote: > > Frank > Thank you for your email. > Apologies, my question is twofold, firstly is there somebody in the group that has had a similiar side effects when taking Lipitor or when combing Lipitor with other blood pressure medication and, secondly, whether there is a natural " healthier " alternative that I could consider instead of Lipitor? > > Rodney > > califpacific <califpacific wrote: > , " riansteff " > <riansteff@> wrote: > > > > Re: Side Effects of Lipitor > What alternative medicines are out there for Lipitor or generally > > for high blood pressure? > > The blood pressure medicine I currently take is Accupril and Zanidip > > and a blood thinner called Iscover. > > > > To ??? > > I am not sure that I understand what you are asking of the group. Guest guest
Hello, I'd like to recommend two that have given me a lot of great information on natural supplements to replace Lipitor or statins. You can read their archives, if the groups are slow. You will have to ask to join in the same way as you do with most. SupplementsForAHealthyHeart : Supplements for REVERSING Heart Disease TakingLipitorAndHateIt : Taking Lipitor and HATE IT!!! > > Hi, > > Lipitor.
