Progress in AIDS Treatment: Yeah, sure!

I had to attend a presentation by our notorious Julio M. this week.

He presented on scientific studies with the AIDS coctails of drugs.

They still use death as an end-point in studies. I thought, as I

listened to him: " Really, no progress in the last 10 years! " Still

using toxic drugs, and fussing about kidney failure, liver toxicity,

heart attacks, all as a result of the drugs. I know 4 people, who

had heart attacks, from their 'meds'. Still using AZT in one

coctail!--even though some persons with aids have had cancers, as a

result. What's that definition of insanity: " Doing the same thing

over and over, expecting different results each time. " I sat behind

a guy with " buffalo hump " and facial wasting--a side effect of the

drugs. He nodded, throughout the presentation--was that agreement,

or the fat on the back of his neck settling? Oh, am I just a cynic?

Very strangely, I thought, there was one study that found benefits

with fish oils--combined with drugs, of course. The whole

presentation and dinner was sponsored by drug companies, with now

familiar 'vultures' representing them. It's all very sad! 25 years

of AIDS, and business as usual, insane thinking, more studies (some

were so badly designed, even our primary drug pusher, Julio,

commented). My physician was there. Hell, I'm seeing the naturopath

today about this cough I've had, rather than the physician. At least

he won't offer toxic drugs. Steve
