The Mainstream media are reporting that the CIA has fired an employee

for leaking. I call her a heroic whistleblower who blew the whistle on

secret CIA prisons in europe. Check out my brief article and use the

action page to send a message to your legislator and local paper to

support her as a courageous supporter of democracy.

We'll see between 450,000 and 500,000 visitors this month and we've

had less than 100 contributions, many of them being $5 and $10. I'm

putting in 80 hours a week on this work and need to see that there's a

future living in this for me. I'm not trying to get rich, but this

month, we're barely, if at all covering our expenses. Our main expense

is paying for programming to upgrade the website so it continually

adds new, better features that bu! ild community and vlaue as an

information source. Please make your contribution now Don't depend on

someone else. We value every $50 contribution and would love to see

three or four figure contributions too.

NSA DIRECTOR ODOM DISSECTS IRAQ BLUNDERS

" The invasion wasn't in our interests, it was in Iran's interest, Al

Qaida's interest. Seeing America invade must have made Iranian leaders

ecstatic.... Iraq is now open to Al Qaida, which it never was before-

it's easier for terrorists to kill Americans there than in the US..

Neither our leaders or the mainstream media recognize the perversity

of key US policies now begetting outcomes they were designed to prevent.

A Sense Of Urgency

David Swanson of afterdowningstreet.org has written: " If Democrats

want to end this war (and they do), they will need to replace every

Harman in Washington with a Winograd. " What's at stake is the

enfranchisement of the anti-war majority, whose voice in the national

debate is a minuscule percentage of its numbers. What's at stake is

our transition to a sustainable way of living on this planet.

Reality Check: Reporting From Maryland

For voting integrity activists in Maryland, the 2006 Legislative

Session ended as a disappointment and a reality check. We began the

session believing that, if we could pass a paper ballot bill in the

House of Delegates, this legislation was a certainty in the State

Senate (where similar legislation had 23 of 47 Senators on board as

co-sponsors). How wrong we were.

Iraq is presently sitting on top of two trillion gallons of unrefined

pursue it because it was a Democratic idea. This Administration has

never vetoed a spending bill and we are over eight trillion dollars in

debt, mismanagement, you bet.

TeenScreen - Stealing Our Children's Future

Our next generation of children is in grave danger. TeenScreen is

working insidiously in schools to find children who can become the

psychiatric/pharmaceutical industry's next cash cow. Bolstered by

Bush's very stupidly named " New Freedom Commission " , TeenScreen is

being pushed secretly into schools. This may be good for the drug

business but is very bad for our children and, factually, for the

future of this entire society.

Flawed Justice By Molly Ivins

I doubt it will startle any citizen to read that the quality of

justice in this country is deeply affected by how much you can afford

to pay for it. If Zacarias Moussaoui could afford the jury coach Jeff

Skilling has sitting in the courtroom, he'd doubtlessly be less at

risk. But in both cases there is the same feeling that maybe we've

missed the point -- the real culprits in Moussaoui case were the FBI

higher-ups who stifled the investigation and have never paid any

price. In the Enron case, our political system should be a

co-defendant -- campaign contributions, lobbyists, sell-outs and all.

Patriot's Day. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised... From NH

The thing with machines, NH Sec. of State Gardner said, is that people

want to trust them. But when the machine makes a mistake, people are

unforgiving. They don't know if it was a mistake, or if it was

intentional. And they never trust that machine again. They are

unforgiving and they lose faith. But when a person makes a mistake,

people forgive that person. They expect humans to make mistakes, and

they continue to trust each other even after they make mistakes. And

this is the crux of it. Once we stop trusting in our elections, we

lose our freedom. Once we stop believing in the legitimacy of the

outcome, it is no longer legitimate.

Congressman Conyers Continues FOIA Request Battle With Depts Of

Defense, State Over Iraq War Related Documents

Neither the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee, nor the

International Relations Committee has held a single official hearing

or heard from even one witness on any of these matters since the

Downing Street documents were first revealed almost a year ago. The

Judiciary Committee Democrats held their own hearing to investigate

the Downing Street documents in June of last year in a small room in

the basement of the U.S. Capitol Building after Republicans denied

them the use of an official hearing room. All Republican members of

the Committee, though they were invited, refused to attend. As well,

the House Leadership scheduled an historically unprecedented 11

roll-call votes in a row that day in apparent hopes of disrupting the

hearings.

Forrest Gump's Evil Twin

How extraordinary. Something is happening here that has never happened

in America's history. A consensus is sweeping the nation. Not that the

war in Iraq is wrong, or that oil companies are screwing us blue, or

that the climate is going to hell, or that good-paying jobs are being

replaced by low-paying jobs, or that our national health care system

is a disgrace, or that that the rich are getting a lot richer while

the middle class gets poorer. While all that's true, and more and more

folks are getting it, that's not the consensus of which I speak. Nope.

This one is bigger, enormous, huge! Here it is: The President of the

United States is a moron.

Grand Jury Hears Evidence Vs. Rove

Just as the news broke Wednesday about Scott McClellan resigning as

White House press secretary and Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove

shedding some of his policy duties, Special Prosecutor Patrick

Fitzgerald met with the grand jury hearing evidence in the CIA leak

case and introduced additional evidence against Rove, attorneys and

other US officials close to the investigation said. The grand jury

session in federal court in Washington, DC, sources close to the case

said, was the first time this year that Fitzgerald told the jurors

that he would soon present them with a list of criminal charges he

intends to file against Rove in hopes of having the grand jury return

a multi-count indictment against Rove.

Rove's " demotion " Means He Now Sets His Unscrupulous Sights Squarely

On Nov. Midterms. Democrats Better Watch Out

In short, Rove is a bad dude. He will do everything in his power, and

then some, to get his clients elected and keep them in power. That he

is now 100% dedicated to the ReTHUGlicans' re-election efforts this

November is by no means a demotion, a reduction of his power, or an

action that should be taken by the Democrats as anything but downright

frightening. This is a wake-up call to the left. The enemy has just

moved its most powerful weapon straight to the front lines.

Optical Scan Voting System Will Fail In May Primary Predicts Election

Official In OH

Now, in what is clearly a show of " No Confidence " in their voting

machine vendor ES & S, the county elections director is predicting

failure with the system in the May 2 Ohio state primary. Summit County

Board of Elections Director Bryan Williams is predicting Election Day

failures with the memory cards in the county's new optical scan voting

system. ``I don't think we can assume anything else,'' Williams said

at a meeting Tuesday, where the elections board reviewed the latest

list of troubles.

Oregon Sues ES & S For Breach Of Contract

In addition to the state and county suits, a class action Securities

Fraud complaint has been filed by shareholders against Diebold for,

amongst other reasons, failing to disclose known problems with their

electronic voting systems. Additional legal proceedings are currently

in the works in several other states as well, The BRAD BLOG has

learned, and so far we've only had two of 50 state primaries in 2006,

the first year that HAVA kicks in in full. Both primaries so far, in

Texas and Illinois, revealed massive electile dysfunctions as machines

failed, tabulations were found to be inaccurate, and final results

were delayed due to numerous equipment problems. Stay tuned to The

BRAD BLOG for (unfortunately) virtually exclusive continuing coverage

of America's 2006 E-Voting Meltdown...

Bush Gave Plum Jobs To Supporters Who Worked Recount

John Bolton, undersecretary of state for arms control, caused a stir

in May by accusing the Cuban government of transferring bioweapons

technology to rogue nations. Nineteen months ago, he caused a

different stir - bursting into a Tallahassee library on behalf of the

Bush-Cheney campaign to stop a recount of Miami-Dade County ballots.

Matt Schlapp, a former congressional aide, is currently White House

special assistant to the president and deputy director of political

affairs. In November 2000, he was part of the supposedly spontaneous

window-pounding protest at Miami-Dade County Hall that brought to an

end the first recount of Miami-Dade ballots.
