Why worry about the future when the Rapture is near; attack

Iran next?

" I participated in a hoax on the American people, the international

community and the United Nations Security Council. How do you think that

makes me feel? Thirty-one years in the United States Army and I more or

less end my career with that kind of a blot on my record? That's not a

very comforting thing. "

--Lawrence Wilkerson, Chief of Staff for Colin Powell prior to the war

on Iraq.

Journalists and politicians have been questioning the evidence used to

make the case for war with Iraq. On the third anniversary of former

Secretary of State Colin Powell's landmark speech to the United Nations,

an administration insider who helped write it makes a startling claim:

that he participated in a hoax. That insider, Lawrence Wilkerson, and

former UN weapons inspector Hans Blix are among the voices in NOW's

report into pre-war intelligence. Investigate some of the intelligence

documents under discussion below.

Just War -- or a Just War?

Bush rewrites intelligence, and now rewrites history; to disagree is to

be a traitor to the cause. When did telling the truth get to be

unpatriotic? Polls show Bush now no longer trusted to be truthful

himself. Faith-based policies start with the conclusions and then " fix "

the facts around the policies.

The public intelligence report was not supported by the classified

intelligence report on which is was supposedly based. A nuanced

document morphed into a categorical imperative which required immediate

pre-emptive war. (War for regime change and pre-emptive war are both

illegal under international law.) The world, the UN and the Congress

never saw the basic 90 page classified document and saw only the

cherry-picked " facts " which were fixed around the a priori policy in the

expurgated 25 page document. So the reasons given for war were not

valid, and they were deliberately misleading and deceptive.
