Guest guest
atracyphd2 Sat, 15 Apr 2006 10:28:36 EDT [drugawareness] URGENT!! ACTION NEEDED ASAP-Stop Drug Company Secrecy in Minnesota We need all Minnesota residents concerned about the dangers of medications to sign this petition requiring disclosure of serious and life threatening adverse effects of prescription drugs to be disclosed. This bill has already passed the first committee and will be going to the Minnesota Senate this week. Signatures by Minnesota residents are urgently needed so that the petition may be presented to the Senate making them aware of how many residents are being adversely impacted due to this failure to warn. Minnesota has some of the most high profile antidepressant-induced tragedies in the country with comedian Phil Hartman's wife, Brynn (Vickie Omdal), coming from Thief River Falls, MN, and Jeff Weise of Red Lake, MN. In the case of Phil and Brynn Hartman far too many STILL are unaware that this was another Zoloft-induced murder/suicide and that this case has been settled ( " resolved " ) by Pfizer, the makers of Zoloft. And how many are fully aware of the Prozac-induced actions of young Jeff Weise in the Red Lake school shooting where ten more died needlessly? Had Woody's Bill been passed years ago these are two more tragedies that could have been avoided saving another dozen lives-the majority of which DID NOT even take the medications themselves! This is criminal on so many levels and must be stopped NOW. Please pass this information on to start this type of full disclosure by drug manufacturers. Dr. Ann Blake Tracy, Executive Director, International Coalition for Drug Awareness, www.drugawareness.org_ (http://www.drugawareness.org) and author of " Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? - Our Serotonin Nightmare " - the truth about all antidepressant medications and the audio tape/CD " Help! I Can't Get Off My Antidepressant! " (800-280-0730) _____________ " WOODY'S BILL " Stop Drug Company Secrecy in Minnesota - Kim & Woody’s Story Kim Witczak of Minneapolis knows who suffers when drug companies keep clinical drug studies secret. In 2003, Kim's husband Woody began taking the antidepressant Zoloft to reduce insomnia and stress. Five weeks later Woody took his own life. He had no history of mental illness or depression, and he was not warned that information from clinical drug trials indicate Zoloft may cause suicidal behavior. The Minnesota legislature is voting on a bill, SF 3342, requiring drug companies selling prescription drugs in our state to release results of all clinical safety trials to the public. Kim is now working to prevent what happened to Woody from happening to others in Minnesota. Kim has joined Consumers Union and the Minnesota Senior Federation's campaign to pass this bill in Minnesota, and you can help. Support Kim - Sign the Petition to End Drug Company Secrecy in Minnesota Sign the petition below. Stand with Consumers Union, the Minnesota Senior Federation, and Kim Witczak in supporting an end to drug company secrecy. Got some time to give? _Sign Up To Volunteer_ (http://cu.convio.net/site/Survey?SURVEY_ID=2860 & ACTION_REQUIRED=URI_ACTION_USER\ _REQUESTS) I stand with Kim Witczak and others in Minnesota that have been harmed by drug company secrecy. Kim's husband, Woody, committed suicide after taking the prescription drug Zoloft. He was not warned that Zoloft could cause suicidal behavior. I support SF 3342, a bill requiring drug companies to make public the results of clinical studies of the drugs they sell in Minnesota. Drug companies often hide data pointing to dangerous side effects of the medicines they sell, keeping consumers in the dark about the safety of the drugs they take. Bills like SF 3342 could have saved the life of Kim's husband Woody. I urge you to pass this bill to prevent incidents like this from happening to others in Minnesota.
