Guest guest
Dear Group, I would like to cover a few things, in addition to the previous message about editing your posts when replying to a prior group message. If you answer a post on this group, you are expected to actually know something about the subject that you are replying about. You are not allowed to give " medical advice " to others. This means you cannot say definately what they should do on your " orders " Example....You should do blah, blah, blah. You can tell them what worked for you, or someone that you know, read about, etc. You can post an article explaining the possible answer, problem, or solution. You can tell them what possible avenues of information they might/should consider pursueing as possibilities, etc. You can explain logically and completly why you think something MIGHT BE A POSSIBILITY. I mean a DETAILED explaination. When people come here and tell us about their symptoms or diseases, it isn't really possible in most cases to be absolutely sure about either their symptoms, the causes, or the correct solution. There is not a very good way to diagnose and prescribe the " cure " over the internet. The internet is a great way to share information but since it also is by distance, it is hard to evaluate what is happing physically at the other end. It is a real diservice to act like you are an authority and tell someone else what they should or should not do to " solve " their problem, because in most cases you cannot be sure what is wrong with them and secondly you usually cannot be sure that it is the right answer for someone else. You also might be convincing them to go down the wrong path. Giving medical/health orders can and does have consequences. It can harm someone else. Give them information so that they can make up their own minds instead. I do not care if you are a " doctor " of some type. We cannot be sure of you or your abilities here, so NO ONE practicies medicine here. Period. You can hurt someone by telling them something that isn't correc, or at least, may not be the correct thing for them. This group is about sharing information. We are here because we need to learn about our own problems and our own solutions. We can help each other do that. It is not here so that one half can play " doctor " to the other half. If you know what you are talking about, share it by explaining. If you are a good researcher share it by reposting some article, that you are aware of, that may shed some light on the problem. If you have personal knowledge about something post it. Or just say that here is " a possibility to think about " . Talk about yourself NOT about the other person. As in, I would consider this. If it were me, I might try this. I would read up on_______. NOT,.... YOU SHOULD DO (ENTER YOUR SOLUTION HERE). If you want to " prescribe " the answer/solution, please go start your own group.
