Hopefully a better way to say this would be:

 

Some messages are primarily personal type messages meant for 1 person

and then there are group type messages which might be of interest to

many of our almost 4,000 members. Please determine which type of

message it is before posting and email accourdingly.

 

Although we have always tried to keep a very good signal to noise ratio in this

group, some conversational messages are invited. We just want them to be of

interest to many members also. Small groups are somewhat " chatty " and very

informal. Large groups receive many messages daily and if they were to become

very informal and chatty we would be inundated with chatty type messages and not

much room for substance type messages.
