Guest guest
My mother has a serious itching problem with her feet. Over the years the itching has become so bad that her constant scratching has caused major wounds on her feet that bleed every day. She soaks her feet every day and wraps them in an attempt to keep her from scratching them more. When she scratches them, they bleed and this happens on a daily basis. She has had this problem for well over 20 years but it has become unbearable for her. She has been to just about every type of specialist to find the source of the problem and no one has been able to help. They give her treatments to stop the itching but it does not eliminate the problem and the itching soon returns. She is presently going to a Wound Center who has not had any more luck. One of the specialists has confirmed that she has good circulation in her feet so that is not the problem. Do you think finding a good Alternative Medicine provider who does acupuncture would help? If so, does anyone have any suggestions on how to find one in the Palm Springs area? She lives in Palm Desert, CA. She is 84 years old. Guest guest
(Moderator's note: I do not agree with this post, but am allowing it to go through.) I am posting from the group site as my emails seem to never make it through to the list. Let's see if this works. I would highly suggest that she do a complete liver/gallbladder flush, parasite cleanse, colon cleanse and heavy metal detox. Perform the liver/gallbladder flush and colon cleanse one time a month for at least 3 months then 2x yearly. Make sure, while cleansing, that she is drinking at least half of her body weight in ounces of pure, clean water every day to help flush toxins from the body. I would also suggest a good probiotic, oregano oil and colloidal silver in case she has Candida. Of course, healthy diet and the elimination of most fruit and all refined sugar, should Candida be a possibility. Try using unrefined coconut oil or unrefined hemp seed oil on the feet. Also essential fatty acids added to the diet is important. Take Care & Be Well, Loretta Lanphier , " Sue Nelson " <shaggyluv wrote: > > > My mother has a serious itching problem with her feet. Guest guest
Dear Sue, We would have no way really to know what exactly is happening in your mother's body, but here is something to think about and possibly research. When the amount of toxic substances in the body exceed the capacity of the liver's abilty to detoxify them the body will react to the toxins by having itching in the skin. I do not know if your mother's liver is working at a diminished capacity or not. Or if the toxic load is just greater than a well functioning liver can handle. The kidneys ability to filter out poisons also may play a part. If you are not familiar with toxic loads please search our archives and our message boards. There are certain things that can help like vitamin C in large doses. The vitain C bonds with toxins in the blood, detoxifies them and carries them out of the body. There are certain herbs and vitamins that will also help and support the liver. Toxic substances can be taken in by the body in many things and ways. The are taken in our foods, pharmacuetical medicines, air, household, water, etc. As a person gets older the toxic load usually increases with age as the person's body has a buildup over time and the organs may work less effeciently. Has she taken quite a bit of prescription medicines over time? Does she take any over the counter medications regularly? These will contribute to the toxic load over time. Also they are usually man made compounds so they are much harder for the liver to detoxify. I have seen in many people who have taken drugs for long periods of time to have problems with their feet and legs being swollen, red, itchy, with weeping open ulcers, etc. It seems to me that it is the toxic poisons trying to escape through the skin. When the body's toxic load exceeds the liver's ability to handle it through the liver and kidneys, the toxic substances are expelled through the skin, nails, tears, breath, hair, etc. and the body will even store it sometimes somewhere so as to keep the body from being poisoned to death with the abilty to go back and detoxify those deposits if and when the liver's capacity is able to handle more again later. Those areas are especially seceptable to leaching the toxins through the skin. Sometimes the liver does not function well because it doesn't have the basic nutritional substances / basic building blocks to make the necessary liver enzymes to detox the poisons. Taking those missing nutrients or enzymes by mouth may help. Most diets are deficient is some of them. The key is education not medication. Please click onto our links library page (listed at bottom portion of each message.) and read all that you can. Most people who are " toxic " above their liver's capacity to detoxify are given more drugs by allopaths to treat the symptoms but usually just increase the toxic load in the long run. good luck, Frank , " Sue Nelson " <shaggyluv wrote: > > > My mother has a serious itching problem with her feet. Guest guest
I am a 60 year old diabetic and I have had a problem with itchy feet and legs now for almost a year. I have also had leg cramping for even longer. I have been doing a lot of research. My best guess at present it is an oxalate problem. By cutting out most oxalates from my diet, the problem has lessened. I find that there are two things which help the itching. One is to smear my legs with clay mud, then wrap my legs in saran wrap & put on socks. I keep the mud on my legs all night while I sleep. The other helpful treatment is to annoint my legs with St.John's Wort oil (St.John's wort flowers extracted into olive oil). If you want to try a low oxalate diet, the Truing Low Oxalates e-list has lots of information. http://health.Trying_Low_Oxalates/ If it does turn out to be an oxalate problem, using mineral ascorbates instead of vitamin C may help. That was mentioned to me, but I have not been able to verify that yet. Alobar On 2/12/06, Sue Nelson <shaggyluv wrote: > > My mother has a serious itching problem with her feet.
