Guest guest
Phrases You Don't Hear Much Anymore by Chuck Terzella The following are a few quotes and phrases that are sorely missed: Shock and Awe: Originally used by the Pentagon to describe Iraqi's reaction to our invasion, it has come to describe Americans reaction George W. Bush's budget proposals. Thugs, Losers and Dead Enders: Secretary of Dense Donald Rumsfeld's description of the Iraqi Isurgency...the name has since been changed to... well, The Iraqi Insurgency. Compasionate Conservatism: Enough said. " It's Your Money! " : Now, it's no ones money…it's just everyones debt. Swift Boat Veterans For Truth: Having accomplished their mission of disinformation, the Swift Boaters have drifted away, ready to come out and fight another day, under another name, in another election. " You're Either With Us Or You're For The Terrorists " : Apparently, a lot more people are for the terrorists, because a whole lot less are for us. " Ownership Society " : Still in use, but fading as people realize that the thing they most own is massive personal and public debt. Budget Surplus: Long gone with Clinton White House. Real Plans For Real People: Bet you don't even remember that one…2000 Bush campaign slogan, along with " Reformer With Results " and " Leave No Child Behind " " Crusade Against Terrorists " : Off the cuff comment showing George Bush's sensitivity to the Muslim World. An Insurgency " In It's Last Throes " This is actually Dick Cheney's quote, mostly because George Bush didn't know what 'throes' meant. " Why Do They Hate Us? " Asked and Answered " Legislate From The Bench " : Now that there are two more Conservative votes on the Supreme Court, this phrase will get less and less usage as Anti-Choice groups try to legislate Roe v. Wade out of existence. Weapons Of Mass Destruction: Still in use, but with a whole new meaning. Fiscal Conservatives: Once used to describe Republicans, but those days are as far away as " The Party Of Lincoln " Vast Right Wing Conspiracy: Senator Hillary Clintons description of the Republican Party. Changed to " Same Old, Same Old. " c unconfirmedsources
