We want justice for victims - Stop the Asbestos Fund Bail Out

The Senate is on the verge of passing an industry-written asbestos

corporate bail out bill, S. 852, that lets companies off the hook for

knowingly exposing employees, consumers and factory town residents to

a highly toxic mineral while shutting the courthouse door to all

victims of asbestos disease.

It would also severely limit all future asbestos claims, which could

include YOU – if you are one of the people who use any of the

estimated 30 million houses, schools or commercial buildings that

still contain asbestos insulation.

Click here to send an immediate message to your Senators, and tell

them to vote no on the asbestos company bailout.

This proposed " resolution " to the asbestos problem is as wrongheaded

and unjust as it is complicated. Unreasonable and unfounded medical

criteria in the bill would deny many legitimate claims. Even those

victims who qualified would have to surmount huge evidentiary and

administrative hurdles, and in the end would likely get far less

compensation than they need – or would have won in court. Current

asbestos cases that are close to being resolved would be removed from

court and could be delayed for years. A huge new federal bureaucracy

would be set up, and it would be completely unnecessary, since there

is not a flood of asbestos lawsuits clogging our court system –

contrary to industry spin.

Not surprisingly, the corporations that knowingly exposed workers,

their families and whole communities to deadly asbestos for years

would save tens of billions of dollars off their expected liability.

Once again, injured people would lose while corporations, which spent

millions of dollars lobbying for this bill, will profit handsomely.

Please contact your Senators TODAY, and tell them to vote NO on the

asbestos bailout bill!
