Progressive Radio Network

NIA is pioneering efforts to develop the Progressive Radio Network

(PRN), which brings a third alternative to the limited choice between

homogenized mainstream media and radical politicized radio. Born to

meet the needs of a diverse audience seeking outstanding programming,

PRN carries progressive non-commercial programs related to health,

nutrition, exercise, diet, lifestyle, public policy, the arts

spiritual development and cultural affairs. The network has been

assembling creative and innovative shows in an attempt to deliver high

quality programming that will uplift and educate the public in ways

not currently available on either commercial or noncommercial radio.

PRN has completed the process of obtaining all its required licenses,

and it has begun a limited schedule of internet webcasts at

www.progressiveradionetwork.org.

NIA's Chairman and Founder, Gary Null, has generously agreed to donate

to PRN his nationally acclaimed noncommercial radio show, Natural

Living. We are very grateful for this important contribution from Dr.

Null, and the invaluable support that he has provided to support NIA's

existence over the years.

Documentaries

NIA has recently completed production of a documentary film entitled

" Prescription for Disaster, " which presents an in-depth investigation

into the symbiotic relationships between the pharmaceutical industry,

the FDA, lobbyists, lawmakers, medical schools and researchers, and

the impact of this web on consumers and their health care.

This thorough investigation takes a close look at why patented drugs

are so readily prescribed by doctors, the role of insurance companies

and HMO's in promoting compliance, and the problem of rising health

care costs. It probes the marketing and public relations efforts on

behalf of the pharmaceutical companies, including sales reps, medical

journals and conferences.

The film examines alternatives to traditional pharmacology and drug

therapy -- including vitamins and nutritional supplements -- and looks

at why they are often perceived as a competitive threat by drug

manufacturers.

" Prescription for Disaster " makes clear the disturbing influence of

big business over the way that disease is treated and the dire

consequences we suffer as a society.

NIA is grateful to Bill Faloon and the Life Extension Foundation for

its generous donation to make this film and its important message a

reality.

documentary on DVD.

In addition, NIA has recently completed work on another film that it

is supporting, called " The Drugging of Our Children " . This is a

powerful film which reveals the effects of the alarming, epidemic use

of pharmaceutical drugs--like Ritalin, Paxil and Prozac--by America's

children and teenagers. The film is now being entered into prestigious

film festivals, and the advance word on the film is that it is very

compelling.

Education

NIA is involved in educating medical professionals about alternative

approaches to health and healing. Continuing Education Courses for

doctors, nurses, dieticians and other healthcare practitioners will

include Clinical Nutrition, Nutritional Physiology, Diet Therapy,

Gerontology and Public Health. This program is still in development,

as NIA seeks to obtain teaching accreditation.

In summary, this has been one of the busiest times in NIA's 30-year

history of improving public health and nutrition in the United States

and we truly appreciate the generous public support that we have received.
