Guest guest
Home Remedies: Honey for Wounds By Keith Hopcroft, The Times (UK), 2/4/2006 SEE: www.apitherapynews.com A reader writes that honey is excellent for healing wounds and preventing infection. This reader is probably right. Honey has been used as a wound treatment for centuries, applied either directly or via a dressing. Honey stimulates tissue growth and tends to draw moisture into the area, both of which promote healing. Also, it seems to speed up the destruction and removal of dead tissue, while its antibacterial properties may help to prevent infection. The Cochrane Library, the bible of evidence-based medicine, is preparing the definitive overview of all the relevant science on honey's purported benefits and should publish soon. . .
