Call to phone CSPAN and demand that they reverse

last-minute decision to not broadcast Feb 4

protests.

URGENT DEMAND: BROADCAST BUSH STEP DOWN

DEMONSTRATION!

CSPAN must reverse its late Friday afternoon

decision to not broadcast Saturday’s Bush Step Down

Demonstration.

This week, every major network broadcast Bush’s

State of the Union address – an aggressive and

unrelenting assertion of his program of war,

torture, spying, and war on the poor, abortion and

secularism in government. The answer offered to the

public was a Democratic Party " rebuttal " – which

essentially opposed none of it!Increasingly there

is no platform for any voice of real opposition.

And now CSPAN, one of the few media sources for

public information, has made an 11th hour decision

to silence it. Is CSPAN heeding the Bush

administration’s " advice " to " watch what you say " ?It is

imperative that these views be heard – and a

demonstration that is the first ever to bring to

Washington, DC the demand for this President to step

down be broadcast.

Call and email CSPAN NOW. Tell your friends and

e-lists to do the same:Call viewer services at

765-464-3080. When it says " To record a comment

about CSPAN’s programming or to notify us of an event

you would like us to cover or . . . . " , press 1

now”, press 1 and tell them to cover the World

Can’t Wait BUSH STEP DOWN demonstration at 11am.

You can also call the CSPAN Washington Journal

call- in program 7-9am EST Sat. Call 202-628-0205

to " support others " (other two choices are

Democrats or Pres Bush). Tell them to cover the WCW

demonstration.

Keep in mind that, even if we get Cspan to agree to our request, it will not

constitute " having our views heard. " Bush was heard by a crowd 20 times larger

than the one that listens & watches Cspan. ( Mod. note: probably more like 1000

to 1 ) If Cspan relents to our demands, that will change the ratio from 20 to

0, to 20 to 1, realistically, not much of a change. Only a radical reform of

media, top to bottom, will produce a satisfactory result for us.

By the way; for those of you that insist that there's nothing that we can do

about media. All you need to do to see the absurdity of that notion, is look at

what we're attempting to do with Cspan. It can be done with " big " corporate

media as well; provided the demand is vocal, widespread, insistent and

persistent enough. The greater the numbers that can be persuaded to confront

media, for their right wing bias, and the treachery they engage in on behalf of

the rich and powerful, the better. We have to get rid of the way we are cowed

by media; get rid of the fear and subjugation we allow them to instill in us.
