this along!

The Republican Leadership wants a confirmation vote Tuesday Morning.

below.

 

FILIBUSTER ALITO NOW - We won't get enough votes to stop Alito; we need

votes against cloture - that is, supporting a filibuster which would

block a confirmation vote. Sen. Frist has already filed a motion for

cloture, hoping to force a vote Tuesday morning.

 

It takes 60 votes to close debate (cloture) and allow a vote. Senate

Democratic Leader Harry Reid met with progressive lobbyists and said he

has about 44 votes against Alito, but a mere vote against Alito is

meaningless. We need 41 Senators to support a filibuster.

 

If every Senator opposing Alito supports a filibuster, he will lose. 8

Democratic Senators said they won't support the filibuster - essentially

letting Alito bring his extreme views onto the Supreme Court for life.

You can help stop Alito. Call the Senators listed below, as well as both

of own your Senators. Share all or some of these points with them:

 

* The Supreme Court should protect all Americans, not a narrow political

wing.

* Bush has the power to nominate, but Senators don't have to accept

every nominee.

* Republicans refused to grant dozens of Clinton nominees an " up or down

vote. "

* The Senate rejected John Rutledge, George Washington's nominee for

Chief Justice!

* The Senate has the obligation to balance Presidential power including

via filibuster.

 

* Judge Alito betrays hostility against Constitutional rights, freedoms,

and protections.

* Alito supports the extreme " Unitary Executive " doctrine not the

Separation of Powers.

* Alito refused to answer Senators' questions during the hearings to

hide his views.

* Alito's disrespect for the Senate and his rulings show disrespect for

our Constitution.

* Alito doesn't deserve a lifetime seat on the High Court, which affects

all of us.

* We The People need our Senate to preserve the Founders' Separation of

Powers.

 

* Essential points: a " No " vote on Alito is empty meaningless.

Only a filibuster will protect our rights from the extreme.
