Guest guest
I've been taking St. John's Wort for about 10 months as part of a comprehensive treatment for serious depression. It seems to be effective (I started at 900 mgs a day and am currently taking 600) but if I forget to take a dose or two I get nauseous and sometimes even vomit. I'd like to find a supplement that that dose not cause this and have decided to try 5-HTP. My question is, what would be the best way to transition between the two? I found information suggesting I shouldn't take the two at the same time, but given the nausea, I'm hesitant to just stop taking the St. John's Wort. But I worry that if I completely wean myself off the St. John's Wort before starting the 5-HTP that I'll become depressed again. I can't find any information anywhere on going off St. John's Wort, much less switching from one supplement to another. Thanks!
Guest guest
It would be a good idea to check for hypothyroidism using the Barnes Test as this would causee the pituitary to cut off the adrenalin, hence the depression. Also give the liver a clean with Milk Thistle, that should stop the neusea. Mike Maskery MAR.
