In this Healthy Living Report learn why some women are turning to the East for relief. - For centuries, millions of Japanese women have relied on a tea concoction to help them with hot flashes. - It's a tea called Keishi Bukyro. - Japanese women have been taking this remedy made up of mushrooms and other herbs for 1,800 years. - " In Japan, this is the real stuff, " said Dr. Greg Plotnikoff. - The kind of stuff Dr. Greg Plotnikoff wants to bring to America from the land of the rising sun. He's conducting a study on the substance at the University of Minnesota. " Sleeping was a problem. I'd wake up, I don't know how many times a night, I'd wake up, " said Linda Levine. - And Linda was a willing volunteer for the study. - Dr. Plotnikoff prescribed Keishei Bukyro in pill form, ten times a day. - It was a double-blind study, which means no one knows for sure who had the cure or the placebo. - Like all the other women, Linda kept a daily diary. And she said it improved her life. - " The study drug actually helped me feel better. My mood was better, my family noticed, my children noticed, " Linda said. The results of this study will be released in February. If all goes well, Keishi Bbukyro could hit the market in the United States within the year–probably in pill form.
