Guest guest
Congress is back in town, and once again, friends of the drug companies are planning to slip a provision through Congress in the middle of the night, without a hearing or a debate. This vote could take place as early as today! This proposal awards special interest protections to the pharmaceutical industry, and places the health and safety of the American people at risk. Urge your legislators to oppose any bill that does not provide just and equitable compensation for victims. Call Congress Now! Secret Underhanded Methods If this legislation is truly necessary, why is Congress trying to push it through in secret, rather than having an open debate on the House or Senate floor? This is an effort to take advantage of the climate of fear over pandemic diseases, and could let the drug industry get away with murder. It would not protect the health or rights of our citizens. Tell Congress to Protect Your Rights, Not Negligent Drug Companies! Would Make a Pandemic Worse The provision allows drug companies to avoid being held accountable if their products cause injury or even death; even in cases of gross negligence. This could actually prevent people from getting vaccinated. This was the case with the Smallpox Vaccination Program- thousands of people simply refused to get vaccinated. Tell Congress to Protect Your Rights, Not Negligent Drug Companies! Tell your Friends About This Dangerous Proposal! People Over Profits supporters have sent over 30,000 letters to Congress on this issue, but with a vote coming as soon as tomorrow, we need to turn up the heat. To beat back this attempt we need you to contact your friends, family and colleagues. Tell Your Friends! Sincerely, Kristin Keckeisen Campaign Manager, People Over Profits == I wanted to let you know that People Over Profits has mobilized supporters who have sent more than 30,000 letters and made countless phone calls to Congress in opposition to a pandemic flu vaccine plan that would give drug companies huge legal protections, without offering injured families with any legal recourse. The proposal would protect drug companies even in cases where they are grossly negligent. Proponents are planning on sneaking this proposal in as an amendment to another bill, which will likely be voted on today or tomorrow. Please take action by sending a letter to your Member of Congress by going to http://action.peopleoverprofits.org/legDirectory/ Again, Congress plans on voting on this proposal this today or tomorrow so please take action today.
