Guest guest
Please just ask in your phone calls and emails to: PASS SB 977 (HB 2000) AS WRITTEN and vote " no " on HB 1318. The problem is that if they change the word " record " to " ballot " and 5% to 10% they open the bill to other changes that are very undesirable that are in HB 1318. The experts consider it safer to ask to have it passed " as written " so many bad things won't be added. The things some want to add would make it difficult for some senior citizens and poor to vote and make it harder to get poll workers which could force them to combine precincts and make longer lines and longer travel to vote. Legal experts advised me about the problems in the last message: " Little change, big legal issue. Not a good idea. Best to ask them to pass the bill AS WRITTEN. " If you need ideas of more to say: Please PASS SB 977 (HB 2000) AS WRITTEN and vote " no " on HB 1318 so there will be a record of people's votes if there is equipment malfunction, programming errors or fraud. Citizens want a Voter Verified Paper Record of each electronic so they will be sure there vote will be counted as they intended. Please do not allow undesirable parts of HB1318 to be added to SB 977. Senior citizens and others who do not have picture ID should not loose their right to vote.
