GABA, milk casein allergy

Could my Listee friends please clarify the following:

#1. The mystery of “Milk Solids”. Milk solids are

mentioned as ingredients on the tin boxes of Horlicks,

Complan, etc. I am allergic to milk---probably to milk

casein. Are milk solids casein? I just want to use

small amount of Horlicks as “whitner” in my tea.

#2. Julia of “Mood Cure” fame writes on page 153 that

butter contains a special fat called butyrate.

Butyrate is the base of GABA.

But, even on the packets of butter, milk solids is

mentioned among the ingredients. So butter is a No No

for those like me who are casein allergic (assuming

that milk solids have casein). Can we allergic guys

shift to “Ghee” and reap the same benefit as of

butter, assuming of course that ghee does not have

casein which is a protein after all? Does ghee also

have butyrate?

Thanks in advance.

Ratan
