Guest guest
A Sun, 20 Nov 2005 00:39:05 -0500 [Denino] Oh God! How did we become this? http://www.mytown.ca/denino/ Oh God! How did we become this? 20 November 2005 First the Pentagon denied that our troops used white phosphorus as a weapon. Later it was acknowledged that we did indeed use it. However, now the Pentagon denies it was used against civilians. I wonder how long we wait to find out what the truth really is? We know what we did in Viet Nam… Oh God. Oh God. What are we doing? What are we doing, those of us who are killing the innocents? Following orders? It's wrong to follow orders? We should be unpatriotic and cowardly by not following the orders of our commander in chief? You want us to act dishonorably and ignore the orders of our superiors who order us to burn the flesh of innocent children? What? Are you challenging the moral authority of our American leaders when they tell us to defend freedom in America by bombing innocent civilians in another country with burning phosphorus? What are you? Unamerican? Unpatriotic? How can you say such a thing! I pledge allegiance to the American flag, and it sits across the dais from the Christian flag in the churches! Patriotism! Christianity! Respect! Freedom! Honor! One nation under God! With liberty and justice for all! Don't be a smart mouth. You know what I mean. All Americans. Oh, ok, not all Americans. All white, wealthy, male, hetero Americans. Oh, God. Oh, God. What are we doing? Tonight I feel sick. I want to hide somewhere, maybe under some angel wings somewhere, until the horror abates. How selfish is that, I wonder? I'm not the baby burning to death. I'm not the mother silently wailing in fear for my child as I burn to death. I'm not the soldier who has to carry the memory for the rest of his life that I killed innocents. I wonder what it feels like to have my skin burning under my clothes. I wonder how excruciating the pain is before I pass out? Is the infant's soul screaming for her mother's arms? And I wonder what the mother's last thoughts are before she succumbs to the pain. Does she pray a silent goodbye to her baby? I wonder how my brother feels when he can finally look at what he was forced to do. That, at least, I can sense. If I were God…… well, I'm not. But I am a mother. Those are our baby boys and girls burned to death in Fallujah. Those are our brothers and sisters whose skin peeled away from their bodies. Those are our sons and daughters who were forced to kill the innocents. Yes, I am a mother. If it were my child threatened with this horror, I'd without a doubt get between the aggressor and my child if it were humanly possible. Yes, I'd take the bullet to spare my child. I'm sure most mothers and fathers would, and I'm sure in other situations some have done so. I feel sick. I know the arguments. We were attacked. Blah, blah, and blah. We were not attacked by the babies and children. But we attacked them. Collateral damage? Does the pain from collateral damage feel any better than the pain from a deliberate assault? So what if we were attacked! Killing somebody else's child evens the score? What kind of monsters have we become? What kind of mothers and fathers have we become? Can we reconnect with our love of our own children, our own grandchildren, our own students, our own Sunday school class, and simply draw a little larger circle that includes the children we don't know by name? Can we get an Anne Geddes picture, http://www.annegeddes.com/, say the " awwwww " thing, and hold that thought as we look at the picture of a Iraqi baby burned to death? Where are our hearts? Who has stolen our souls? Brothers and sisters, this isn't about differences in national policies, economic struggles, or any other pseudo-intellectual posturing bullsh*t. This is about the torture and deaths of babies and children. We say we are fighting terror, but we are raining terror down on innocents, and doing it wrapped in the American flag. Do you think the God we say we follow doesn't see this? Do you think the pastors who climb up into the pulpits on Sunday mornings and support our administrative policies ever read the verses in the New Testament that read " suffer the children to come unto Me, for of such is the kingdom of God? " Based on that, we are bombing and burning the kingdom of God. Yes, I said WE. This is hard, and I am just as guilty. WE are doing this. To the extent that we, as individuals, identify ourselves as Americans, " support " our war efforts, and allow our funds to be used to kill the babies and children, we are guilty. Please do not try to throw that nonsense about supporting our troops. That is a manipulative comment and you know it. We, as adults, know the difference between supporting individuals and supporting policies. WE. We will take a bullet for our own children, but when it comes to the children of others, we're much more concerned about the OSU-Michigan game. How sick is that? How sick are we? Please watch the video. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article10907.htm Let your tears open your heart and heal your soul. We need to reach out to each other, join hands, and bring this to an end. We have enough work to last us for several lifetimes. And if, in bringing health back to this planet, we end up being attacked, either by our own or others, well, perhaps that's the bullet we're taking for the next generation. Perhaps that's the only way there will be a next generation. I don't know. I only know it's horribly, terribly wrong to kill babies and children. There is no excuse. There simply is no excuse, and I think, if we look inside our souls, we know that. " The US confirmed to my officials that they had not used MK77s in Iraq at any time and this was the basis of my response to you, " he told Mr Cohen. " I regret to say that I have since discovered that this is not the case and must now correct the position. (06-17-05) Since then, not one American newspaper or TV station has picked up the story even though the Pentagon has verified the claims.
