Guest guest
I recently joined this group and already have gained much knowledge from all of you here. My joining this group was by accident. I found it while on a search for side effects of cholesterol lowering drugs. I have taken Crestor for almost three years. I noticed in the past year, I was aching in my muscles. My arms, legs, etc. I decided the drug was causing this after reading many articles. So, I stopped taking it on November 2, 2005. Just a short time ago. I noticed a difference in one week. I was tired, lethargic, and it was not good. I am now feeling much more energetic. My cholesterol problem is genetic. Eating the correct foods does not lower it. But, I could not go on feeling the way I did. I am now taking a natural supplement. I do not know if this is going to work. But, I think the path I was traveling was slowly killing me. I am taking charge of my health now. I am just tired of doctors prescribing medicines for me that just make me have more problems. Basically, I take no medicines now. I try and eat right and I take natural, holistic remedies. Is it the right thing to do? I am not sure. But, as I feel better each day with no meds, that is telling me something. I would like to hear others stories of taking this medication and their results. Thank you for all your knowledge here. Guest guest
RE: Cholesterol Medications I have used Niacin (release assured) and garlic for over 20 years to reduce my cholestral levels and have no regrets- and no side effects from one more pharmaceutical poison. Aside from a 15 minute " flush " there are no ill side effects that I have experienced. I donate blood periodically to monitor liver and cholestral levels, at no cost; and Niacin costs about $3.00 a month- with no prescription required. So the cost effectiveness of such a simple approach beats the hell out of some expensive chemical compound that will just make (me) sicker than (I) was to begin with. I also use vitamins E, Folic acid, and eat lots of green veggies and oats. My cholestral had been measured at 310; after 6 weeks of this regime I had 167, and have closely maintained that all these years. Irregardless of what the quacks and monolithic corporations involved in the " medical community " say, I find this much safer. Read the list of side effects posted on any of these toxic chemicals (pharmaceuticals) and then compare those to Niacin.
