Guest guest
Sounds like my puppy and yours are related LOL! Our has chewed many a firelog and is helping to create mulch! I dont want to have to resort to a dogrun as " the juvenile deliquent " is 90pounds at 10months old and really needs the space to walk, run and play...but if he doesnt learn from his mistakes and punishment, i may not have any other recourse. *sigh* Sylvia herbal remedies , " Kelli Bever " <kelli@c...> wrote: > Yes, I have a chewing puppy dog as well - a 70 lb black lab " puppy " that's 1 1/2 yrs old now. She will chew ANYTHING she can get into as well. She had a water pool to play in last summer. Doesn't have one now - it's little blue pieces of plastic all over the back yard. The drip irrigation system has gotten chewed to bits or digested. We cannot leave sun tea in the back yard to brew because she tips it over and breaks the jar (Dangerous!). At the moment she has to be contented with chewing on large chunks of firewood, which she loves doing and throws it around like it was a rag doll! When she's not being destructive, she's actually quite cute! LOL! > > Anyway, our backyard, fortunately I guess, was only dirt and concrete with a couple trees when we got her anyway. We created a dog run for when we need to do something in the back yard and can't have her jumping on us, and we've fenced off the side of the house so she doesn't eat the BBQ (although she's started eating the fence!). I didn't bother planting a garden this year because I didn't have time to also doggie-proof it. BIG FROWN! This is the first time I haven't had a garden in many years. I am going to solve this problem before the rains this fall so that I can definitely plant things next spring! > > I guess I could have more serious challenges in my life! I'll take this one! Guest guest
Well, we only use the dog run in limited situations - like when my husband emptied all the furniture of the house onto the back patio while I was out of town so he and some buddies could remove the acoustical ceilings, install can lights and in ceiling speakers and put up crown molding while I was out of town! GRIN!!! If they hadn't caged the black menace, our new furniture would have been mulch as well. Normally, Daisey Mae Trouble (as my daugher likes to call her!) has run of the backyard with no restrictions. :)Kelli Sylvia [h10feet] Wednesday, June 02, 2004 11:55 AMherbal remedies Subject: Herbal Remedies - Re: Kelli dogsSounds like my puppy and yours are related LOL ! Guest guest
Ok, I'm coming in late again... what is with all these dogs not behaving?? I've raised dogs ever since I can remember... alot of different breeds... pups need things to play with - their toys, chewies etc.. and discipline. Guest guest
The problem I find with Daisey is keeping the distinction between her toys and anything else within range of her mouth! LOL! It's OK when we're around to police her, but when she's unsupervised, then we have to make sure there's nothing in range! Guest guest
Try hot pepper or "bitter apple" - spray on the "no-no" stuff.... see if that works.Kelli Bever <kelli wrote: The problem I find with Daisey is keeping the distinction between her toys and anything else within range of her mouth! Guest guest
We use cayenne powder, lightly brushed on whatever we don't want the animals getting to. The couch corners so the cats don't sharpen their claws, the openings under our house so the raccoons, skunk and fox don't go under there. Stuff like that. Seems to work pretty well. Guest guest
EXACTLY The day before my dogs chewed my second hose into 99 pieces I had given them new bones the size of my forearm. When I discovered the hacked up hose the next morning they were still chewing away on their bones. No amount of chew toys will make these dogs behave. Guest guest
Oh! Excellent idea!! Thanks Suzi! I wonder how my daughter will like having hot pepper sprayed on her socks! LOL! She leaves them everywhere, and Daisey loves to chew them!
