Guest guest
GRRRR! Sorry to stir up the hornets nest. *sigh* sending cyber hugs your way Candace, and some prayer. On another note, my moronic puppy just did me a similar although not quite as horrific, service. yesterday afternoon i went out to water and found my BRAND NEW, in the package, garden knee pad chewed to a hundred pieces. Then this morning... 2 huge brand new bags of compost had been ripped apart and strewn all around the patio. It's not so much that i cant replace these, it's just that we dont really have the cash right now, and we really dont want to have to make a dog enclosure for him. We already had to fence off half the yard so he doesnt dig up our veggies and herbs. He already killed my brand new grape vine. Anyway, this didnt compare with what your dogs did, but made us pretty darn mad, and i thought of you when it happened. Guest guest
LOL We both have brat dogs, huh? When drunken DH crashed into our garage door in October he put a big hole in it and all the stuff (1/3 our belongings) we had in the shed since we just moved in got torn to shreds and dragged all over the yard. Took 28 wheel barrel loads this spring when things thawed to clean it all up. Everything with a cord, VCR, Stereo, etc. got the cords chewed off. Would have been nice if drunken wonder would have told me THAT MORNING what he did so I could have patched the hole to keep the pups out of the garage. They've got my husband's snowmobile seat (his fault for leaving it outside) 2 hoses (my fault for leaving them outside) Some of Brock's toys (not sure how they got outside) Brock's baby pool (who would have thought they'd chew the sides apart)..........the list goes on. These dogs are VERY lucky I'm an animal lover. And DH is lucky I've learned to control my temper. : ) BUILDING LOTS OF PATIENCE OVER HERE! Guest guest
I nominate you for Sainthood Candace. You certainly have more patience and tolerance than me! I told DH to discipline the puppy lest i tear him a new ***. He's banished to the Outside today. Normally i let him in to hang out in the office with me and the kats all day, but i'm just too mad at him. Yeah, he's done his share of damage to the house, yard, etc and we've not even had him a year. also, he has been given ton's of love and his own toys to chew and toss and so he really has no excuse. Also quite lucky we love him or he'd be in the pound an hour ago! I'm not even going to touch on the husband issue ;o) Sylvia herbal remedies , " Candace Podratz " <CandaceAndBrock@w...> wrote: > LOL > We both have brat dogs, huh? Guest guest
Yes, I have a chewing puppy dog as well - a 70 lb black lab "puppy" that's 1 1/2 yrs old now. She will chew ANYTHING she can get into as well. She had a water pool to play in last summer. Doesn't have one now - it's little blue pieces of plastic all over the back yard. The drip irrigation system has gotten chewed to bits or digested. We cannot leave sun tea in the back yard to brew because she tips it over and breaks the jar (Dangerous!). At the moment she has to be contented with chewing on large chunks of firewood, which she loves doing and throws it around like it was a rag doll! When she's not being destructive, she's actually quite cute! LOL! Anyway, our backyard, fortunately I guess, was only dirt and concrete with a couple trees when we got her anyway. We created a dog run for when we need to do something in the back yard and can't have her jumping on us, and we've fenced off the side of the house so she doesn't eat the BBQ (although she's started eating the fence!). I didn't bother planting a garden this year because I didn't have time to also doggie-proof it. BIG FROWN! This is the first time I haven't had a garden in many years. I am going to solve this problem before the rains this fall so that I can definitely plant things next spring! I guess I could have more serious challenges in my life! I'll take this one! LOL! :)Kelli Candace Podratz [CandaceAndBrock] Wednesday, June 02, 2004 10:35 AMherbal remedies Subject: Re: Herbal Remedies - Candace Chores/dogsLOLWe both have brat dogs, huh? Guest guest
This is my first year living in the country since I was a youngun. So I HAD to have a garden! I nagged and nagged and nagged and nagged, whispered in DH's ear while he was sleeping. Made comments around his friends and family about how I NEED a garden. Got the idea in his head that I WILL have a garden this year. So I got one tilled with a fence around it! Only took 3 months to get him to put up a fence! YAY! My very first garden. ~huge grin~ So far 23 rows in it, may have gone overboard, still have more to plant! LOL I have TWO chewing pups! That's what's so frustrating, I never know who is the instigator! They're 9 months old (black lab/springer spaniel) and 8 1/2 months old (would be purebred golden retriever, but has ONE black lab mixed in). BRATS! Guest guest
Well Candace, if i lived closer, i would come help you put that fence up (and in the process show your DH that a woman across the country is more willing to help his sweet wife than he is!) is there anyone you know that would at least be willing to cut the posts for you? I've used a sawzall before, but under the supervision of my ex-H, the one he had was a bit heavy. Was it his dad that gave you the posts and stuff? What is your relationship with him and Would he be willing to cut them for you???? Perhaps if he knows you are going to do the fence yourself he will say something to DH about getting up and doing it? Guest guest
Well, you're definitely up on me in the chewing pups! Good thing they do have their loveable moments, though, huh? LOL!! I envy you your garden!!! I don't have much of a backyard, but was always able to grow stuff in past years. Just wasn't gonna happen this year, though. Bummer. I don't know that you can go overboard on a garden Candace. Just grow it!! LOL! :)Kelli
Guest guest
Alright, the herbal fieldtrip is to MN. You can all help me do yardwork and fix my chicken coup! Hey, great plan!!!! : ) I might be able to lure my little bro back over here to cut the posts. Just seems like every time he comes to visit I put him to work and I feel bad about it. The sawzall DH has is heavy, too. I don't know if I could keep it steady or not. His uncle gave us the posts, he's " helped " me out in the past and then made DH pay him for it, which really ticks DH off. He's also a farmer and this time of year he's too busy to help me. I do feel bad for him, he's got to be really depressed to sleep as much as he does and drink as much as he does. But he doesn't seem to want to do anything about it.
