Guest guest
Candace, You'd be suprised what you can do if you put your mind to it! I not only helped put up some of the fencing in my garden (to keep my 90 pound puppy out) but had to re-do some that DH did. I agree that it should be done by your hubby, but if the alternative is that it wont get done because he doesnt let you hire someone. Also if i remember correctly finances are sometimes tight at your house, and you would still need to buy supplies to build the enclosure. Anyway... They have these light-weight metal stakes at Home Deopt or Lowes and they have a semi pointed end. I was able to easily pound them into the ground with a hammer and We have what has to be nearly the worst soil in the world here! ROCKY, compacted desert soil. Next, chicken wire, it was a piece of cake to put up. In our case i had to wire tie it to the metal stakes, so it could easily be removed as the plants grow, But for the chikcen area of your yard, you could use wood stakes and then staple the chicken wire to it. Plus, IMO, husbands are sometimes far more shammed when people see what their wives did since they (the husband) were too lazy to do theirselves! Many times if i get tired of waiting for DH to start something we have planned, all i have to do is go start it, and he runs to take over ;o) Sylvia herbal remedies , " Candace Podratz " <CandaceAndBrock@w...> wrote: > MessageYes, we'll get more. > The problem is; my husband expects me to be the man around here. I've tried getting him to pound some fence posts in so I can get a nice fence up around the chicken coup but he hasn't done squat. > I've asked him to mend the hole in the shed but he hasnt' done squat. Fix the roof so it's dryer in there. Hasn't done squat. He always says " well, why dont' YOU do it? " There are just some things men are more suited to do JMHO. I don't weigh a whole lot and don't think I could pound a fence post in even if I threw all my weight into it. >
Guest guest
We got some posts free from DH's uncle and fencing was on sale appx a month ago so he brought some home after work. And there it sits. They're heavy duty posts that need to be cut in half with the sawzal (sp?) first, and a pretty heavy fence, not sure I could even LIFT the coil to start it! I've thought of doing it myself, I just don't think I physically could do it!
