Crunches, which is a modified sit-up, is better for your back. You might want to consider some exercises to strengthen your back muscles. Also there is a dvd/video series that is called Walk the Walk and they have an AB program that is called Walk away the pounds for Abs as well as other choices. The lady who does them is Leslie Sansone. I have a few friends who do these at home and love them... I think her web site is www.walkawaythepounds.com I had a C-section almost 15 years ago and my incision had tore open bad, the doctors could not fix it at the time and now over half of the scar I can push my fingers into really far...not good at all.. I have the same problem with my tummy, I use to try all kinds of excercise to tone and flatten but nothing worked... It may be just because of the damage to the area though, who knows... I am not about to get a tummy tuck and surgical repair of the area though... they went back in 1.5 years after my c-section already and had to remove a lot of scar tissue that was over all those organs in the area... really didn't help much in the long run.. scar tissue in this instance can be quite painful. Best of luck to you. God Bless, JAmie in Az God Bless, Jamie in Az
Guest guest
Hi all, I have been wanting to do some exercises to tone up my belly muscles: ever since my caesarean section 6 years ago, my belly has suffered quite a bit, and has NO tone to it at all. This is consequently a source of problem for me in trying to look nice - I need an extra clothes size just because of my belly, and I hate it. I have been reluctant with belly exercises though: whenever I try some of them, such as sit-ups, my back starts aching tremendously between my shoulder blades. I suspect my spine it out of alignment. And yes, I will need to get this handled as soon as I get enough money to visit the chiropractor :-) Meanwhile, can someone suggest some good exercises which will NOT hurt my back? thanks. love Lisa Outgoing mail is certified virus free.Checked by NAV anti-virus system (http://www.symantec.com)Version 9.05.15. Guest guest
Hi Lisa, Yes, crunches are good direct ab workout exercises, but how about the rebounder or jogging? Not only does it compress all cells in the body, it works all the muscles in a resistance-type way. I know that my abs have improved in tone from the running I've been doing. Also, swimming is a very good over-all type exercise. Since your back is hurting you, you'll definitely need to condition both, and movement type exercises will work them both. The back muscles and abs work together. Don't ignore one for the other. :)Kelli Lisa Belcher [lisabelcher] Sunday, May 30, 2004 2:50 AMherbal_remedies Subject: Herbal Remedies - excercises Hi all, I have been wanting to do some exercises to tone up my belly muscles
Guest guest
Hi Kelli, thanks. Does running handle abs also?? Jeez, didn't know that. I know about swimming, and absolutely love it. But as I have Jamie with me 24/7, and he refuses to go in the water (ever since he had swimming lessons!!!), that leaves that one out as a possible. As he's only 6, I cannot leave him alone while I swim! hey, just thought of something: our local Leisure Centre has a crèche for mum's who want to do some workout!! Perhaps I can use that to go swimming!! Will check! thanks!! love Lisa - Kelli Bever herbal remedies Tuesday, June 01, 2004 8:38 PM RE: Herbal Remedies - excercises Hi Lisa, Yes, crunches are good direct ab workout exercises, but how about the rebounder or jogging? Guest guest
Hi Lisa, Yes, running and rebounding work all the muscles as they "resist" the impact. Also, the abs and back muscles work together to hold the body erect and for balance. That's why motion sports, including swimming, are so good for them. If you're doing one of those sports - rebounding, running, or laps in the swimming pool - try doing it with your ab muscles contracted for a few minutes, then relax, then contract again, and so on. Really use your abs to hold your body in position, or to help with the motion (swimming). Have fun! Guest guest
Well Kelli, it didn't work out. Turns out the crèche is only for pre-school children, and Jamie is 6, so they won't let him in there!!! Humph!! Gotta find another solution! love Lisa - Lisa Belcher herbal remedies Tuesday, June 01, 2004 9:12 PM Re: Herbal Remedies - excercises Hi Kelli, thanks. Does running handle abs also?? Guest guest
Oh, that's too bad! Can you trade with another mom for an hour at a time? I'm sure you'll find a solution!
