Guest guest
Hi all, We have an unexpected puppie guest in our home. I suspect it has worms. I was going to tincture wormwood, black walnut hulls, and cloves but in the meantime would making a tea work? I have been giving it garlic with raw meat. Anyway, I am just looking for a quick worm formula until I can get the tinctures made. Thanks for any input!! Lisa
Guest guest
Lisa, I have to tell you that if you have a puppy with parasites, than, I would have him wormed chemically. Basically the only time I recommend chemicals is with this problem. In my opinion, and I work as an animal nutritionist, it takes too long for the herbs to work and the parasites in a small puppy are more harmful than the drugs. What you then want to do is to follow up the chemicals with some cleansing such as some total tonic, and follow up with black walnut hull tincture that will finish off whatever may be left. Remember that all of these methods kill the live parasite and not the larvae. I generally recommend making sure to do your herbals for about a month after the drugs and this generally works. You also want to make sure that you are feeding the puppy lots of raw meat, veggies, whole grains like oatmeal and I like giving some yogurt. Wormwood is a very powerful herb and depending on how small the puppy is, may be too strong for the puppy.
