I had heard the comment that "only humans drink milk from other species" and mentioned it to someone, and they pointed out that dogs and cats will drink cows milk (or goat, or...) as well. Maybe it's just us domesticated species that has this habit! LOL!

When I was working on a goat farm (my first paying job as a young teenager) the main thing that I did was feed them and milk them. The goats would often get mastitis or a "congested udder" and they were never pushed to produce or stressed. Some does were more susceptible, and others never got it. This wasn't a farm where the milk was mass produced and sold. It was a "family, backyard" farm and the does were milked twice per day - once in the morning and once at night.

Anyway, based on that experience as well as the fact that even in humans some are "better milkers" than others, I would suspect that any cow could be susceptible to health issues or stress in the area of milking, regardless of "push to produce", organic or no.

Well, there ya go. Just my thoughts on this issue. By the way, I have always loved ice cream and cheese! Some of the best foods on the planet! I've given them up, however, so that I can breathe! LOL!

I have also heard that comment, but I look at how much cows produce (without "helpers") and I think in my Christian view that the things on the earth were put here for us to use. This includes both plants and animals (all parts). It's when you get into excess that you get into trouble.

That's true, don't mean to use the B word...um...the Big Book talks about the promised land being a land "flowing with milk and honey" so we are obviously supposed to eat/drink it. ~sigh~

I just wish I didn't know what was in it!

I totally understand, Candace, and I would have said the same thing a few months ago, but I've been without for a while now and no cravings or regrets. In fact, after a while I did try some again, and it didn't taste as good as I remembered. Really no desire to have any now!

I would have to say that cats and dogs don't seek out milk as humans

do. Also, they do not raise them for this purpose.

Also, I suspect that biblical arguments in support of an animal

based diet don't hold alot of water thousands of years after the

book was written as Factory Farming, Antibiotics, Growth Hormones

and the list is endless, didn't exist back then. Also, the book

promotes both pro vegetarian and pro meat diets depending on the

particular time period. Now I promise I will not mention the B word

again! I will keep my opinions to myself!

:)
