I am trying to think of things I can take with me to the baseball park that I can eat so that I am not tempted to go to the snack bar and get something from there. I know that everything they have there is just horrible for me, but it is so ingrained in my head that the ball park is for hot dogs and nachos and such that I need to bring things with me to readjust those thoughts. I have broken my 7th inning stretch ice cream so that is a step in the right direction...but the free hot dogs and chips and salsa on Friday nights are a tough one...since I am all for getting something for free!! lol I will, however, pass it up if given an alternative to have on hand. Luckily we have TKD on Friday nights and will be getting there too late for the free hot dogs, but that still doesn't stop the temptation of stuff from the snack bar! I have started bringing my own water...I bottle it up at home and put it in my bag I bring with me...which of course I will just put my snack in the bag as well. We have also started having dinner before we leave, since I live closer to the ball park than I used to, so that helps, but it is still hard, so having something to munch on would be great. I don't want to bring nuts...as I use these at home for snacks...I was thinking maybe something different...something that I could use mainly at the ball park so that I feel like I am getting something special while I am there...lol...I know it sounds crazy...and something for my son as well!! Guest guest Posted May 26, 2004 Report Share Posted May 26, 2004 Caroline, Saw the veggie wrap post and i would recommend the same, but try Sprouted grain tortillas if you can find them and instead of cream cheese, try home-made sprouted hummus! I think i posted a recipe for TT Mustard too and this is excellent on sandwiches or wraps! I find that when i use it, it cuts my craving/appetite down to size due to the spicieness! Also i posted a recipe for dehydrated crackers in the last few days. The whole reason i make them is because they are crunchy and make a great healthy snack. Instead of cutting them to crakcer size, you can cut them down into chip size if that helps. Lastly, i tried one of Granny Lee's ideas on Sunday... The grandkids wanted a snack so i made popcorn (organic of course ond popped on the stove) and i wanted some but sprikled a bit of TT dust over it. It helped me to not gobble the popcorn down since it was spicy. Instead i ate a few here and there. Guest guest Posted May 26, 2004 Report Share Posted May 26, 2004 Sylvia, I was actually running through my brain today about making my own sprouted tortilla's... this is one of our favorite things to make together...but we usually make corn tortillas to use in tacos. Occasionally I make flour tortillas but they take more work than corn....because I can't just press them in the tortilla press...those have to be rolled out. I guess if I make a big enough batch...it won't be too much of a pain...as soon as I get my grain mill though... Funny thing though...I am a fanatic for hummus...and have been making it sprouted for such a long time that it never really occurred to me that people don't eat it that way! lol A friend of mine turned me on to sprouted hummus several years ago...then I add roasted red peppers or other seasongs (want to try TT mash!!!) in my hummus...really yummy stuff! As much as getting a mill and doing my own sprouted flours sounds fun, there are so many other things i have to do in the course of a day or week that i just dont have time to mill my own. Try doing a pesto hummus! it makes a great wrap, you use: Pesto humus, sundried tomatoes, romaine lettuce, shredded carrot and pine nuts (soaked of course)! I remember when I was a kid, about 7 or 8 years old, my mom and dad had been divorced about 2 years. Our dad took us to meet his parents. He was Mexican, and his parents were "illegal aliens". I remember his mom, my paternal grandmother, teaching us to make tortillas. Mine always turned out looking like the state of Florida. I just couldn't roll them out right.
