My son has developed a cough over the last few days...it is very phlegmy (if that is a word..lol). I boosted his TT and started him on Echinacea the day I started hearing the cough coming from his bedroom in the morning...Friday I believe it was...but the cough seems to have gotten worse and worse and today he said he is feeling achy all over. Any ideas on what else I can do for him??

Caroline

If I remember he is willing to do herbs...

Keep up echinacea and total nutrition. Give him total tonic and cayenne. Also give him a ginger bath (have him protect his genitals with vaseline so it won't get too hot) daily for a few days, lots of liquids... Do you have deep tissue rub...rub some on his chest and keep him in a few days, wait like an hour after the bath before applying. Also fresh juices... and hot and cold shower (hydrotherapy)

I am half awake right now but that's a good start. Hope he feels better quick...

Also for the cough you can 1/4 a lemon and have him a little bit at a time squeeze a few drops in the back of his throat, this will also help ease the cough.. do this as needed.

Instead of doing the ginger bath, you can just do a ginger footbath and that works great for the phlegm in the lungs. Also, make a mixture of a good salve with raw garlic and apply it to the bottom of his feet, wrap them and leave it on for a while. This will help with the mucous also.

for the ginger foot bath, I suggest taking a few inches of fresh ginger, chopping them up, bring to a boil and then simmer for 20 minutes. Let it cool down to a temperature that he can tolerate and put it in a bowl and stick his feet in it for a half hour. you can repeat it again later.

for the garlic mash, take garlic mash it up and then put it in a good salve that you may have or you can use vaseline (i don't love using it as it has a petroleum base, but it will hold the garlic where you want it and not slide off. then cover the entire area with some gauze and stick a sock on him and leave it on for a half hour to an hour. Just let him read or do something where he's sitting still. He may mention that he tastes the garlic and yup, it can happen, even though its just on his feet.

When i had that bad cold a few weeks back, I also did a Lavender

I actually started him on my huff n puff that I pressed yesterday with his morning TT and Echinacea...and will do so again tonight before he goes to bed.

I will definitely do the ginger soak...I have garlic but not any petrolium jelly...does anyone know of any other substance I can use to put the garlic in? I have some oils...but I know that was said that the garlic will absorb more...maybe if I put just a little garlic into the oil...and followed the same procedure? Any ideas?

I just wanted to thank all of you...he is currently soaking his feet in the ginger bath...I am putting together his garlic salve...I found some vaseline...which I had thought I had...but couldn't find it...so he will get his feet slathered with garlic salve a little later...and then another ginger bath before he goes to bed...along with another good dose of TT with Echinacea and Huff n Puff...hopefully he will wake up a new person tomorrow!!

Caroline

Who will probably keep him in her bed tonight if he doesn't smell too bad!! lol

Gelatin will do the job in place of vaseline, and it is water

soluble, better absorbed by the skin.

A ginger bath? I've never heard of this, but sounds great! What sort of experiences have you had with this???

I was wondering if a balm/salve of garlic and cayenne would be appropriate????

I put some lavender Essential oil in a little dish and then put it

near the hot water, but not where it could get water on it. The

steam activated the oil.

I think someone posted that not long ago for relaxation too.

Works awesome if you have a headache or migraine!
