Jan...I don't take my kids to the Doctor for check - ups or anything . I did not even as babies , after the first few months of course .Their diet was very good so I also did not have any reason to.No ear infections , sore

throats , etc . It's just not that safe to be going to the PEDS except for certain emergencies of course . Aren't I awful ?!! I drove my poor MOM crazy because she thinks Doctors are GODS and children can not survive without them !...Mary O

The drs cannot give shots without the parent or guardian signing papers

Unfortunately, that's not always true. It depends on each individual pediatrician's office as to how they determine policy.

When I told my mom about Brock getting those shots she asked why he was at a doc in the first place.

I said to check him over.

"Why?"

~long pause as I thought of why exactly I needed some one to look at my kid and tell me he's healthy~

I totally understand. My Mom is an RN (although doesn't work in the hospitals anymore). She was always very practical and she didn't take us to the doctor very often when we were kids, but she's not too thrilled with my lack of respect with the medical industry ;-) lol

I have had a couple people in my church try to ridicule me for using herbs for my kids problems instead of handing them over to the medical deities, those were smack downs worthy of Pay Per View coverage. I mean really, they tell me that I shouldn't use God's medicine (in a church setting no less) I tell them that they are spineless, lazy, leaches on society that condemn not only themselves but out whole society with their narrow minded lack of ideas. Also that because their lack of knowledge and conviction they are unable to stand up to people that govern their bodies all for the sake of the almighty dollar.

If one can imagine a 5lb bag of manure, lit on fire, and thrown out a car window, going 70mph and the resulting fiery smear on the road, this is what their argument sounded like to the spectators.

Gosh, you remind me of all the *fights* I had when Jamie was a baby! Having been born with Down's Syndrome, EVERYONE wanted to keep an eye on him!!! Doctor, health visitor, paediatrician, specialists, you name it!! And all with horror stories of all the things DS children could possibly develop - they even went over all of these while Jamie was present!! Told them all: thank you but no thank you. I'll call you when he's ill! They were horrified LOL.

love

I know exactly what you mean! I get the same reactions from my church. But the real interesting thing is, when a newlywed couple wanted to have a baby, and were having problems, they came to Marilyn and I and asked if we could help. We mixed them up each a blend of herbs for a tea, each had their own tea and were NOT to drink each others.

We are planning the christening of their soon to be new baby now.
