Guest guest
OK, now I know what to tell you... I have arthritis (what they call level 4, severe) under the knee cap, along with a slight tear in the meniscus, and had a lateral release, along with scraping the underside of the knee cap for bone spurs... That was a year ago. The lateral release was the worst...still healing after over a year... The specialist told me if I do alot of deep knee bends, squatting, kneeling I can expect to be back there for a knee replacement.. and that the swelling and pain from the arthritis will always be there to some degree (now my knee looked double the size it should be..) They did the lateral release due to extreme pain on the knee cap as it was pushing the knee cap over.. OK. before the surgery I had very little swelling but lots of pain... Now, (no thanks to them) I have very little pain (mostly due to the lateral release.).. and the swelling is very minor... And I'm not supposed to run etc.... Now I'll tell you, I do run some but not as an everyday thing or to great lengths... I do ocassionally squat, kneel, etc... (sometimes have a bit of trouble getting up)... but everyday I do strectches.... stand on the steps with your heels hanging over.. lightly bounce or rock to drop the heels to stretch the leg... next, get one of those big rubber balls in the kids toy department and put it behind you on a wall - lean against it and do slight knee bends... to strengthen the knees.. leg lifts are also good from flat on the floor on your back... then take MSM, panther piss and lemon egg and BF & C, every day.. major MSM .. also deep tissue oil is good... To get my swelling down I started for several weeks, of taking DMSO also. This will work. It was a year this past March. And I surpassed what the drs thought i would be... and my knee is still improving. I am looking now for a mini tramp... to start a little at a time and build it up.. no big jumping just slight jumping... SuziCandace Podratz <CandaceAndBrock wrote: 3 years since surgery. I tore my meniscus (it's been a while, excuse me if my terms are a little off) and stretched a ligament within 1/6" from tearing completely in half. I'm not sure if a ligament heals or not but doc said there's no way to repair that. I had the rough edges of the meniscus lazored smooth and a few chunks that broke off removed.
