Guest guest
Hey out there, is anyone aware of anything that can be taken for insomnia while pregnant. All the usual suspects, valerian root, belladonna and others, are contraindicated for pregnancy or at the very least not recommended. I don't know why, but people assume that just because you are pregnant, I guess we don't need herbs or drugs for normal problems. We are just left in the wind to deal not only with the horror of being pregnant but also being in such a "fragile" condition that they won't even let us have herbs, let alone drugs. Please help. Thanks in advance. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Skullcap is considered safe while pregnant and nursing :-) Oats & Linden Flower will help too. Also you can try putting a calming scented candle or essential oil in your bedroom. Guest guest
Hi:-) When I was pregnant last I made the tea formula I sent in already for insomnia and I added red raspberry leaf, stinging nettle (for bloating) and definitely Alfalfa..the wonder grass,lol.. I felt super! I drink the teas separately now because I can't afford to be sleepy during the day..(for example I dozed off after breakfast this morning at 5am and woke up to the sound of one of our dogs killing my best laying hen:-((....) I drink the insomnia tea starting at dinner and all day I drink iced raspberry leaf, nettle, alfalfa, chaste berry and spearmint tea to keep my cycles regular. This last tea seemed to really ward of my usual ppd after birth last time. Karen "anything that can be taken for insomnia while pregnant." Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Guest guest
Another concoction of mine which is very high in organic Calcium. Valorie and I drink it every night before bed to ensure a restful night's sleep and it works great. I'll post the formula for it in the files a little later on if it isn't already there. Guest guest
How about Lavender or Chamomille tea? Those are both pretty gentle. Also i believe Lemon Balm and passion flower are " pregnancy safe " Sylvia herbal remedies , " Lauren Bastow " <lbastow@s...> wrote: > Hey out there, is anyone aware of anything that can be taken for > insomnia while pregnant. Guest guest
Oatstraw, linden and skullcap are what I would also recommend, however, I wouldn't be doing linden or skullcap during the day. What I would be doing would be to make an infusion of oatstraw ( 1 oz. of oatstraw to one quart of boiling water, leave covered to steep for 4-8 hours, strain and then store in the refrigerator). You can drink the oatstraw during the day and it is exceptional for pregnant women as it contains so much calcium. In the evening you can make it warm and put a dropper of skullcap tincture into it, you will definitely sleep. Linden you only want to steep for 10-15 minutes and it is great as a tea before sleep also. See which method works for you, but definitely start to get the oatstraw in you, you will love it Bonnie Rogers
Guest guest
Yeah, those are too weak and they don't affect me. I want to try some of Doc's stuff and see if that also helps. I just got some skullcap tea and am going to try that tonight. I also got some lavender oil to rub in my temples. Guest guest
Well I drank my 1st Skullcap Tea and I must say, I am quite pleased with the taste. The last tea infusion I remember was fenugreek and that was just about suicide. Before that was a whole slew of milk producing infusions: blessed thistle, fennel seed, galaga (ga-lay-ga), all were horrible to choke down. I'll report tomorrow how going to sleep went. I also got some lavender oil to rub on my temples. We will see about that one as well. Oh yeah and remember awhile ago when we were all talking about using TT for female issues? Well I used it to treat a yeast infection and let me tell you, TT is WAY better than the stuff you get in the store. The 1st time I tried it, I put 3 dropper full in 12oz of water and that one burned. After that I reduced it to 2 dropper full. Results: it is way less messy than the creams you get in the store, works much faster and believe it or not, smells better too. I found my cure for yeast problems. All you do is put it in a perry bottle sit on the toilet and spray away. The relief is instantaneous. Down side is that using water upsets the natural moisture that keeps the vaginal tissues lubricated so it can feel dry after you are done for a bit but with the yeast out of the way the lubrication comes back in a few min. Another thing, for all you people that like Deep Tissue Repair Oil stories, once after using it, I forgot that there was still some on my fingers. I had a front wedgie and had to "adjust" my underwear and in this process managed to get some oil on some vaginal tissue. I tried to ignore what I had just done to myself and my hubby asked what was wrong so I finally copped to it. He was just laughing as I ran to the shower to do some serious rinsing with the detachable shower head.
