Guest guest
Hi Everyone! Okay so the guy I have been dating for the last 1 3/4 years is having his son here for the summer for 45 days... Between the two of us we can keep him out of daycare so that's good. He is 3, will be 4 the end of July and this will be my first time meeting the little guy. I know he is a happy meal kid with chronic breathing and lung problems. His mom does not know how to cook so fast food is all he has known and I know why he is sick so often... Malnutrition! Anyway my son is almost 15 so it has been a long time since I had a little one around me.. Any tips for healthy snacks that a 3 year old who is a happy meal kid might like to help make the transition to my organic foods...? We want to get him as healthy as possible while he is here and hopefully some of this will carry on with him when he goes home.. Maybe he can ask mom for healthy snacks... simple meals to prepare.. she just can't cook a lick! I feel so bad for the little guy because he could be so much healthier through nutrition alone. He will be arriving June 15th so I have some time to think about snacks and meals, etc. We plan on making him fresh organic juice daily and home prepared meals... Probiotics... Any other ideas, We only have 45 days with him, he is coming from Texas. Did I mention that I have never met him before? I will have my hands full! I was hoping by now his mom would have sent his list of food allergies, food favorites, food dislikes, etc so I could get a feel for what to start with but she is slow to send it... Guest guest
FRUIT! - specifically grapes, i havent met a kid yet that does not love grapes. Apples and oranges are a favorite with my grandsons, and how about Watermelon! PB & J is still ok if you can use, Sprouted bread, Organic PB or sprouted Almond butter and maybe fresh mashed fruit or local raw honey. I also made some sprouted grain crackers and the boys loved them. Used the recipe from EE Site and then added a bit of nutritionl yeast, and spices and some sprouted almond and pumpkin seeds.. Think comfort food. My grandsons will also eat Sprouted Refried beans with almond cheese or Almond cheese quesadilla's with lettuce and tomato - although Tomato is a touchy suject for lots of kids. Guest guest
Jamie, I think that when you get him back in shape the mom will have to call you and ask what you did so she can continue it. Therefore I think you should put him through a cleanse so he at least can see and feel the difference for himself. This may get him to tell mommy to lay off all the garbabge and feed him some actual food. If and when mommy calls you about how her boy lost weight and is doing so well you should send her Doc's tape. Love, Zeb
Guest guest
Well for my little ones (my youngest just turned 8, but my nephew comes over along with the other nieces and nephews and he just turned 3) I make frozen grapes. I make freshly juiced carrot apple juice and make them into Popsicles or smoothies, ants on a log (celery with almond butter, or any nut butter, and raisins or chopped dates or any dried fruit on top), funky pinwheels (make sure you call them something like that,lol..) uncream cheese and shredded carrots or whatever else is pretty on sprouted tortillas all rolled up tight and then sliced on the diagonal. Then dinner time we often make veggie pizzas or I make just-kidding-mac n' cheese:-) I make a nutritional yeast uncheese sauce , pour it over noodles and then bake with bread crumbs on top until bubbly.:-) Hugs and good luck , Karen Sylvia [h10feet]Wednesday, May 12, 2004 3:54 PMherbal remedies Subject: Herbal Remedies - Re: Little guy helpFRUIT! - specifically grapes, i havent met a kid yet that does not love grapes. Guest guest
Sounds like you will be having an adventure!! Some things that I make for Travis for an alternative to fast snacks are sprouts (winter wheat is nice and sweet), dehydrated fruit instead of chips. Frozen organic grapes as a novelty. They are so much fun to peel!! Or frozen pineapple chunks. Do you have a dehydrator? If so, make a project out of it and let him help with the prep of the fruit. That's what got Travis hooked! Now he does his own, on his own, with supervision of course. How about frozen home-made juice bars instead of popcicles. I'll probably think of more as soon as I send this, LOL. Anyway, let us know how it goes!!!!! JohnSpareRibOfAz wrote: Hi Everyone! Okay so the guy I have been dating for the last 1 3/4 years is having his son here for the summer for 45 days... Guest guest
WOW that should be interesting, huh!!!! Brock occasionally (don't know why) goes on fruit and vegetable strikes and wont' eat anything the resembles fruits or veggies of any kind. (apparently he doesn't realize what I'm juicing : ) But even through these times the one thing he never stops eating is grapes. It's like he thinks they're candy. Kids are hard to change but if they get hungry enough, they'll eat just about anything.
