Guest guest
Ginger- I hear what you are saying. This is a tough subject.....My sister and girlfriend both battled depression for a while....The point is that dietary and herbal solutions can combat these problems naturally and fully without the un-needed side effects of the the pharma drugs. But they are much harder and more intensive to take than just one pill a day. But what we have to realize is that there are not quick fixes in this world....Those quick fixes may seem like they work for sometime but they have side effects and complications...This list is dedicated to help people find natural and/or herbal remedies for ailments that doctors just want to prescribe drugs for. For some drugs are needed for the time being....my sister had lost half her head of hair due to Lyme's disease complications at age 15. This was devastating to her and I commend her on her strength to get up every morning. She was put on an anti-depressant for a while and it helped her. She now takes a natural anti-depressant (SAM-e) and is doing much better. Her hair isn't fully back yet but it is slowly coming back....She fought through this and it was tough for her and my family....My point is that diet plays a huge part in creating depression, but it can be overcome. You can do the herbal/diet changes at the same time as taking the AD and slowly wein off if possible....I would call Doc if this is something you are interested in. Good luck to you. Guest guest
MY grandson has ADHD and also mini bouts of depression. I am familiar with it as are many of us here. My daughter and all 2 grandsons stayed with us for a year and during that time i suggested that she (daughter) try the herbal route because while on Adderol he was sometimes depressed and frequently had a loss of appetite and he is now underweight. It was for the time working as was the organic diet we had him on, however once the school semester started his teacher didnt want to be patient and deal with it. As a result my daughter had no choice except to put him back on meds or face dealing with stupid child welfare people. She tried other meds including the newest on the market and for the life of me i cant think of the name, but the point is, why doom him to a life of chemical dependancy or other health problems because his techer cant deal with it? And in all honesty, now that he is back on meds, he still has those bad days. I have seen him try to hurt himself, not necessarily to kill himself, but hurt is hurt and it is not being helped by drugs. So, in my experienced opinion... it is disgusting and an outrage! Guest guest
Perhaps the answer to a person wanting to die (personal experience on more than one occasion) is sorting through the mental problems that are causing said feelings. People don't just "want to die" for no reason. Perhaps they are being bullied at school or maybe being molested and the parent doesn't know it. Medication in this context is being used so people don't have to go through the hardship of dealing with mental trauma. Not all pain was meant to be avoided. It is though hardship that character is developed. Mental medication is a byproduct of this society's wish for everything to be easy. Instead of thinking of medication as "The only thing that's keeping my children sane and giving them the ability to focus on life around them" perhaps one should think of what is causing them not to be able to concentrate. Fix the problem, not the symptom. What do they eat, is it hydgronated, does it have MSG, were they vaccinated, do they have a mild brain injury. Perhaps one that makes it so they nerve impulses that go from the senses (sight, tactile, auditory) get disrupted somehow on their way to the brain. There are 100 possible reasons why your kids "need" medication. If you are willing to put in the legwork (and this group can reduce that) to find the cause, you can in your own right, take control of your kids wellbeing instead of relying on poison to manage the symptom. In addition, if there were more people that "bashed" people for putting their kids unnecessary medication, it wouldn't be so accepted and we could avoid things like Columbine and other unbelievably disturbing actions by kids that have been drugged so long they don't know what way is "down" so to speak. When a kid doesn't know what a bad feeling is (depression, or any other "negative" feeling) they lose humanity because there must be opposite in all things or we wouldn't have a reference to guide us. Making them feel happy all the time, even when they are planning the gory demise of many, is of no benefit to them. It's simply a matter of will power and a guide that is willing to accept the fact that not everything is meant to be painless. Guest guest
I STRONGLY agree with this. I first started thinking of killing myself when I was in 4th grade. I had it planned and everything. For various reasons I didn't go through with it and struggled with severe depression until I found Al-Anon appx 9 months ago. I went there because I wanted to deal with living with an alcoholic and I learned so much that changed my life completely. It wasn't a physical imbalance (maybe it was I guess) but most of it was mental and how I looked at things and coped (rather DIDN'T cope with stress). Of course, soon after I found Al-Anon I also found Form #1 and did a liver cleanse and bought a juicer. Maybe that had a lot to do with it, too. I sure have more energy now. Perhaps the answer to a person wanting to die (personal experience on more than one occasion) is sorting through the mental problems that are causing said feelings. People don't just "want to die" for no reason.
Guest guest
" I resisted for as long as I could until one told me he wanted to die. " Ginger~ One of my kids told me he wanted to die also. I started trying to figure out what was Causing that in a 6.5 yr old child. After some reading and experimenting, it turned out he was allergic to red and orange Food Dyes. Yes, it was as simple as that! Cutting out the food dyes Completely changed his behavior~ in Many ways, all good. Drugs are Not the answer, in the Vast majority of cases. I respectfully suggest that you continue to read, learn, and try to wean your children off those drugs. Guest guest
What do you feed your child? We've taken them off sugar, refined flour, caffine and anything that comes prepackaged in a box. They don't get aspartame either. They do get jello and an occasional koolaid. How did you find out he was allergic to dyes? I've had my children allergy tested and they came back fine. Guest guest
Welllllllllll, I don't agree with putting him back on the meds, as this is jumping from the frying pan into the fire. I'm sure there's something she's missing in his diet. I'm positive of it. Unbelievabl legislation in Louisiana regarding Drugs. MY grandson has ADHD and also mini bouts of depression. I am familiar with it as are many of us here.My daughter and all 2 grandsons stayed with us for a year and during that time i suggested that she (daughter) try the herbal route because while on Adderol he was sometimes depressed and frequently had a loss of appetite and he is now underweight. It was for the time working as was the organic diet we had him on, however once the school semester started his teacher didnt want to be patient and deal with it.As a result my daughter had no choice except to put him back on meds or face dealing with stupid child welfare people. She tried other meds including the newest on the market and for the life of me i cant think of the name, but the point is, why doom him to a life of chemical dependancy or other health problems because his techer cant deal with it?And in all honesty, now that he is back on meds, he still has those bad days. I have seen him try to hurt himself, not necessarily to kill himself, but hurt is hurt and it is not being helped by drugs. So, in my experienced opinion... it is disgusting and an outrage!Sylviaherbal remedies , "Ginger" <vleonard@m...> wrote:> What is disgusting, that this legislation is about to be signed or > that there are some kids "doped up" as you call it? Guest guest
EVERYTHING! But i cannot control what she feeds them when they are home. She is single, foolish, and doesnt have much in the way of income. We they are here with Dh and I, they are fed organics and they like it. I even asked if she (daughter) would be willing to let us take all three boys for a month during the summer and do cleanses with them, she refused. The only reason she agreed to the organics when they lived with us, was because there was not a choice. She is however coming around on some things (slowly though) so i have not lost all heart. Sadly where my little guys are concerned even though time is of the essence, i have no choice but to wait.
