Guest guest
This from an attorney friend of mine in Louisiana. This requires our immediate attention guys. It is no laughing matter where we can sit on the side lines and let the other guy do it. I suggest faxes and an inundation of paper for the Governor of LA. Better yet, there's an 800 # and there's an email address as well. Let's do all three. ;-) Love, Doc Ian "Doc" Shillington N.D.727-738-0554Doc L.D. SledgeThe unbelievable has happened. The Louisiana legislature, House and Senate, passed a bill which allows non-medical psychologists to prescribe and dispensejust about every psychotropic drug on every list, including Ritalin, andschedule 2 narcotics, you name it. It lists the drugs in the bill and chemicalcomposition. I am in a state of shock.Senate Bill (SB 754) sits on the desk of the new woman governor KathleenBlanco for signing. She can still veto it. Everyone, and I mean everyone, mustcall toll free and blow them away with faxes (or emails) telling youropposition to this incredible turn of events.Call the Governor's office, 800-317-5918 and fax to 225-342-7099. This isterribly important. The Psychological Association of America says if this goesthrough the dam will break, and every other state will then pass such bills. This will have such far reaching results that the entire country will be onpsychotropic medication for as little as a runny nose, or an itch. EliLily and Wyeth, etc., would love to see every person on drugs. It is almostthere---the drugged future and I am scared.Ritalin alone, prescribed to millions of children now in this country, is"speed", methylphenidate, the favored street drug in Canada and banned in muchof Europe. It operates as a psychological straight jacket, giving a childtaking it the label of being handicapped in the medical records, entitlingmany schools to some federal generosity (money), motivating schools todemanding the child be put on medication if the child can't sit still or seemsto demonstrate symptoms of daydreaming or not being mama's little angel. So please take action right now to call and fax or email. This bill slippedthrough with heavy lobbying by the drug industry but without anyone knowinganything about it, and as you know in Louisiana, our legislature has the bestlawmakers money can buy.You can send by email at this link: http://www.gov.state.la.us/govemail.aspL.D. Guest guest
That is downright SCARY. Think she'd notice it was the same person if I faxed her EVERY DAY? I think there are already WAY too many people on drugs for no reason. Candace - Doc Shillington herbal remedies Monday, May 10, 2004 2:39 PM Herbal Remedies - Call-to-arms - MAYDAY!!! Guest guest
This is absolutely disgusting...as if we don't have enough doped up kids in the school as it is. My mother teaches Kindergarten...and this year...out of 18 kids....she has 3 that have to go take their medications during the day...two of them are on Ritalin...this just amazes me. Guest guest
I don’t know that it really makes any difference as I just found out recently that psycologists all have MD’s that will prescribe the drugs if the psyco says they need it. I guess I’ve grown cold when it comes to this type of thing. If a person goes to a psyco then ‘buyer beware’. Clearly they’re looking for a quick fix. The only difference is the psyco will get more office visits then the MD who will prescribe the drug on the first visit. Doc, set me straight if I’m way off base on this. Guest guest
I don't think they even read them. They just look at the subject line and the number of contacts on a particular topic. I mean really, if they gave a sh*t about what we actually thought or wanted they wouldn't have got half this far.
